You didn't mention the tribute Damon Runyon played to Masterson. He crafted his gambler, Sky Masterson in the stories that lead to the musical "guys and dolls" after him. Runyon's papers are at the University of Texas Austin. The newspaper the Telegraph is used in the song "Fugue for tinhorns" in Guys and Dolls.

I read a letter printed in a magazine written by a trooper stationed near Dodge City. He wrote to his sister. He said Wyatt Earp is a pimp. Doc Holliday is a homicidal killer and Bat Masterson is a real gentleman.
