Hey GT....I also agree going with three...makes time for more in depth background which, of course, makes it even more entertaining, eye opening and very interesting. On a different note, I'm working the Barry Manilow concert tomorrow (Thursday 6/25) and was assigned backstage runner (literally a gofer or the road manager and stage/production manager) ...I will be backstage with Manilow and band catering to their every whim. I'll let you know how that goes.
Well worth the wait! As expected, a boatload of interesting, deep background info. Also, it was a good decision to go with three songs for this first installment in the 'garage band' arc. As you say, there are plenty of other songs that are just perfect and ripe for the "Guitar Trooper treatment". Cheers, Troop...keep up the great work!
Another great informative video! I was aware that "Wild Thing" was a cover but didn't know the story behind it, so thanks for that. Yes, please keep them coming. Look forward to Ep2. BTW cool moustache!
I was bought a Sears Teisco electric guitar when I was 12 or so back in the late sixties. I must admit that back then I suffered greatly from stage fright, so I didn't play too many gigs. The first one that I somehow strummed up the nerve to do was with a band that performed on the final day of what was a summer excursion put on by "Teen Tours" (every weekday a bus took all the lads and lasses to a different place... a museum, an outdoor pool, etc.) The first tune we performed was 'Wipeout". We also did 'Day Tripper" which I played in the totally wrong key (having learned from some incompetently written songbook). Much to my chagrin, the rest of the band didn't think I was capable of adequately playing 'our final piece, A Little Bit of Soul'... which turned out to be the only one our audience enthusiastically applauded. Rough beginning, huh? But here I am decades later, age 70, and I still practice on my Yamaha every morning. I can play 'Day Tripper" in the right key (E) now.. I can even do 'A Little Bit of Soul'!
I loved this! Fascinating and fun :) I think the less than 15 minutes playtime is great. It feels unhurried, with a lot of cool information. I could have watched one more, but this timing left me wanting more. Now I can hardly wait for the next episode, if there is one. Great video!!!
When I was in high school, 1970, every band HAD to play "Gloria" somewhere in their set. If you hadn't mentioned it, I was all set to do so....but you did.
Another good one. I have the book by Tommy James. Excellent reading. I love this format as I was one of those guys playing these in the 60’s with a bunch of friends. Thanks for putting these out.
