You are correct! The lounge wasn't there as the whole terminal was rebuilt by Tallink (it's a private terminal) recently. There are signs that say that the lounge was for you and that you would get priority.
About greetings... I genially feel so sorry you expected silent treatment (in the terminal) but you are generally right - northern EU am I right?;) . You also did not speak to anybody at the terminal sooo... and it's quite automated as you saw -- to handle huge masses.
The point of letting priority onboard first without anyone is a business move thoughtfully made by Tallink. They want to treat every passenger very very well and giving themselves time between passengers and making sure no one feels being in a rush or forced to rush is part of the experience.
The MyStar business lounge inarguably the best experience offered in the entire region.
