i had to cut off friends who were like this. they see any improvement in your life/health as a threat to them. instead of feeling inspired, they get jealous instead. theyre too cowardly to say it to your face, so they hide behind jokes and/or passive-aggressive comments. they are some of the biggest haters (pun intended) who drag other people down to their level of misery.

if i posted a picture of myself before and after struggling with drug addiction, is that a "fuck you" to all people still suffering from drug addiction? am i centering drugs because i'm acknowledging my recovery? i'm sure she'd flame me for comparing drug addiction to weight loss, so then let's use therapy instead. a post of me before and after seeking mental health treatment; is that somehow a fuck you to anyone struggling with depression or some other mental health problem or to my past struggling self? their logic is so ridiculous.

Used to be obese (I hit a healthy BMI for the first time in my life last week!!!!) and never cared about the word obese. It’s just a description of having a BMI over a certain number. It’s a medical condition. It’s just like I don’t care if someone said I have OCD because I do 🤷🏻‍♀️

The audacity to say others should not judge you while she spends her days judging everyone else’s words, choices, feelings….if people actually spoke about overweight people the way the FA community speak about the “thins” they would be so mad !

Emmy, fat acceptance is ED reinforcement. It is no different from ana and mia webs, blogs, etc of back in the day, or the nowadays infamous 'skinnytok' and things like that. These are people with an ED trying to reinforce others and recieve reinforcement for their ED. Thats why this is not thought or talked about using logic... it doesnt have any logic. Its crazy, its like the crazy stuff some ana people say, just on the other side of the coin. This individual in particular, i dont want to diagnose her, but i would say it is very probable that she has b*nge ed as she has also mentioned it in a tiktok... this aint any less crazy than people in ana or mia spaces, in fact these people get this huge because the issue is there, the same way a person with ana can get very underweight due to this mental issue. The extreme weight is but a symptom of their problem.

the analogy with this i've recently come to is it's like teeth health. imagine if someone with cavities and tons of plaque was like "my teeth are perfect just the way they are." it's like, yeah you don't have any less intrinsic value just because you have poor dental hygiene, and there are definitely systems of beauty that demean folks with bad dental hygiene which we can address, and some of that involves class and access, but it's also important to not neglect your health if YOU can help it. that's why we brush twice a day and floss. because it will have ramifications later. i don't even understand how they don't see the lack of logic.

There's literally a part of the brain that grows when you do the hard things like say no to yourself. The fewer times you say no to things that may not be the most healthy for you, the fewer times you will be capable of saying no to things that are not healthy for you. You literally reduce the size of part of your brain. For those interested, Anterior Mid-Cingulate Cortex, this part of your brain physically grows when you do hard things like say no to the chocolate cake or get to the gym and lift heavy weight despite not wanting to.

I used to be a gal who never read nutrition labels 🙋‍♀️

Not because I was involved in FA, or had an ED, but because I never thought or cared about it.

Now that I'm actively losing weight, I do read them, and it's just information. I don't perceive it as negative or triggering.
