I am an ex-con, and I can absolutely confirm that prison is a pointless punishment for violent crime. It can potentially work for minor things like driving offenses or vandalism, but proper restitution would work better. Fraud, then you work off the debt until payed back. Same for theft. Violent crimes, however, require a public demonstration of intolerance, whether that be time in the pillory, or hanging. Adding violent criminals to a prison popularion only allows them to continue victimizing the non-violent prisoners inside, resulting in those non-violent types to become violent.
Those that cheered on the assassination of Charlie Kirk have no grounds to be morally outraged by a literal terrorist being publicly executed by firing squad
Leftists only oppose the death penalty when it's being carried out against evil criminals. They fully support it if it's against innocent people they don't like.
These days we watch the deaths of innocents on Instagram; While the elites argue that preserving the dignity of the wicked, is the greatest accomplishment of western civilization.
I live in Canada, where the 4th leading cause of death is the government; so nobody, and I mean nobody in my country has the right to say shit about America publicly executing a convicted terrorist.
The redeeming bit of Christianity is not: 'do something bad, sincerely repent, take Jesus into you heart, and then get let off to live a long happy life' Instead it is: 'do something bad, sincerely repent, take Jesus into you heart, receive your lawful punishment willingly because you know it to be just, and then after you are dead you have a fair chance of not having a daemon poking your tender parts with a pitchfork for eternity'.
It is the redemption of your eternal soul... I would have thought an incoming Pope would have read up a bit on the main course texts before taking the job.
