I do not understand how Hal gets the blame when the entire town and its leaders are harboring an alien

These ideologues confuse emotional guilt with criminal guilt. They honestly think of you feel bad about it you don't owe your debt anymore. These are children with emotional regulation issues.

What a waste of Kyle Chandler

Guy Gardner isn’t just one of the toughest GLs. He flat out has the strongest willpower out of any GL. No way he’d go along with this

Remember people, murder’s ok as long as you have a temper tantrum seconds prior.

According to this show anyway.

Hats off to Garret for editing this down.

Lanterns: The show where evil wins with zero repercussions in the end and greed is rewarded, while heroism is shot dead on a park bench and then grave robbed afterwards.

"With great power, comes great responsibility."

Time after time these writers take IP's and torch them for no reason, they lose the built in audience and never acquire the "modern" audience they desire.

I cant think of a more fitting quote.

Hal Jordan was killed by a Gunn.

I can’t say it’s an accurate representation of green lantern but it is an accurate representation of a female cop.

Hal Jordan was executed for mansplaining. He was explaining his plan to save the sheriff and her son. She had a different plan. She ordered him to shut up. He kept explaining his plan despite a woman's repeated orders that he shut up. He was mansplaining and continuing to mansplain despite repeated commands to shut up, so what choice did she have but to execute him? That's the perspective of the show's narrative, which is why she gets to happily go to her son's football game.

"Oh there's a black protagonist in this show, let's make it all about race" EVERY TIME... Can't we just have a black protagonist who isn't race obsessed?

Hey, just to prevent any confusion: If my wife shoots me in the head while I'm telling her I love her...I want her to go to jail.

Incredible how they just keep making the same story over and over again, with a slightly different skin and it never fails to disapoint.

Hollywood just can't stop destroying everything.

The show relies heavily on the lore it hates for it to be understood. As it does not really want to explain anything. And what it does explain contradicts the lore.

The Ring.

The Lore. Its a weapon powered by a cosmic energy contained in a lantern. Covering them in a cosmic aura, that also creates a uniform, and allowing them to create construct with this cosmic energy through willpower. Normally, a Green Lantern needs to charge their ring once per day to make sure they are able to handle any situation they encounter. Because the Lantern is so powerful they are suppose to keep it hidden from others so no one can steal it, but accessible to them for the recharge. There is normally one per sector and when a wielder dies it flies off to induct a new candidate to the corps; one that can overcome great fear through courage. Earth keeps getting new Green Lanterns without any deaths (they are comic book deaths, so ignore them) because The Guardians are often impress by the current wielders. That they keep making more and sending them to Earth.

The Show. Well, they don't want to use the rings powers for anything, so they keep it on low power to justify it not being used to resolve the plot in seconds, and even the minimum they used was too much for the writers. They really just wanted to make a True Crime show, that they are bad at, but were stuck making a comic book hero show. So they don't want to use the power let alone explain it. So there has to be a physical uniform so they don't have to have the characters wear it anytime the use the ring. The ring still flies off, but instead just goes to the next nearest lifeform asking if, "they are afraid," till one says, "no." As Damon decided that Green Lanterns 'have no fear' like Space Marines instead of 'the courage to overcome it.' Also The Guardians don't create new rings, which they can do in lore as they are the creators. Yet Sinestro is able to create a new lantern and modify it so it also contains the color of fear as well.  So instead John literally is waiting for Hal's death. Which is why they don't have internships. As what lantern would be happy about their replacement being right beside them, always, waiting for them to die?

Man Hunters.

Lore. They were robots created by The Guardians to be the perfect protectors and enforcers. They decided life was flawed, so desired to wipe out all life to create a perfect universe. They were destroyed or sealed away. The Guardians will only talk about them if they are brought up; as they consider them their great shame.

The Show. They are cyborg that can reproduce. They apparently blend in to society as minorities then sleep with the alpha of the planet's dominate culture to control the society. Which the alpha for Earth that controls the planet apparently is the richest guy in a small town in the middle of nowhere that doesn't mind people sleeping with his wife...Alpha. They are also programmed to want to wipe out all life.  Finally, they are enough of a scandal The Guardians can be blackmailed into surrendering a planet to keep their existence hidden.

The Guardians of the Universe.

The Lore. They are the Protectors of the Universe near immortal that have lives since time immemorial. They have a problem understanding emotions, often are too focus on a distance big picture far into the future instead of the present, and have often created the biggest threats to the universe, but they do mean well. The Green Lantern are their best attempt to create a universal protector. While they can be cold to an individual member. They are ultimately proud of anyone that has served as a Green Lantern and are as close to sadden at any death. As they understand to bear the ring is both a duty and a sacrifice for the greater good of life in the universe. They are the creators of the rings and can create more if they wish too.

The Show. The show relies on the lore to justify why its a good thing for John to separate himself from them and take power for himself. Despite the fact they were doing everything for him. They, for some reason, felt so bad about John Steward Senior's mental breakdown. That they decided to make an exception for this family, did something completely unprecedented, and declare his son will be the next Green Lantern of the sector. Instead of just making a new ring for him. Literally gives them an object that is worth millions in Earth's market value as reparations to hold them over till it was time. Takes on the form that pleases John the most; grannies.

Is it that these writers are actually evil racists but think they are the honourable heroes like every villain?

The reality of the artists is that they are portraying themselves in their work. It is a well-known phenomenon. And the reality of these writers is that they are sociopaths reflecting on two main characters after Hal, John, and Carrie. They killed this show and want to go away with it!

So Supergirl, which I thought was best when she was in Smallville, was set in space. Green Lanterns, a show about space cops who travel the galaxy, is set in small town middle America?

Man, this universe isn't for me.

I knew this show was going to be stupid when we heard they killed Hal Jordan and the show occurred primarily on Earth. I had no idea that was the tip of the iceberg. The DCU is an abomination.
