Today I headed out to East Yorkshire to begin a brand new journey: traveling the entire length of the Greenwich Meridian through England. The Prime Meridian makes its official UK landfall on the Holderness coast near the quiet village of Tunstall—just north of Withernsea—before running roughly 311 miles south to the Sussex coast near Brighton. Because this stretch of coast suffers from some of the fastest erosion rates in Europe, the physical spot where zero degrees longitude meets the sea is constantly shifting into the waves.
In this first leg, we spent the afternoon exploring right along the line of 0° longitude. It wasn't a total success—we didn't manage to locate the exact spot I was searching for on the coast—but we were mostly on zero degrees longitude all afternoon.
