The soft little "... How'd I do that" at being right about it being a lollipop in denjis pocket annihilated me, it was almost innocent in how genuine it was

It's actually not 9/11.  The anime takes place in 1997.  There was a bombing of the World Trade Center that took place in 1993 as well where the towers didn't fall.  The anime purposefully has old cars and flip phones because it's 1997 that it takes place in.  Speaking as someone who lived through both attacks, although I was 7 when the 93 one happened, lol.

Something a lot of people miss in the anime is that Denji is hypersexual as a trauma response. The only love he’s ever known is in magazines and things he’s heard.

i love that you understand just how massively wrong what himeno did/tried to do was. Way too many reaction channels just see it as "Oh look at how hot this situation is Denji is so lucky" while he is the victim of the situation

As someone that read the manga, I thought the adaptation was perfect to me . I have no complaints I am obsessed

They don't pretend that pervy motivations are heroic or brush it aside cute and quirky. It's relatable, and Denji does slowly grow as a character and as a good person, but it's not a joke like in some anime.

I think something that sets Denji apart in his "perviness" is unlike other "pervy" male main characters, Denji isn't a sex offender. He actually respects women a lot and doesn't cross any boundaries. He's just lacking in the social skills due to his upbringing and it bounces off nicely because a lot of the characters lack in social skills. Unlike a lot of shonen where the women are just viewed as objects by the male lead often leading to assault.

At least Kobeni was the only girl to apologize to Denji for trying to hurt / kill him.

"Surely Denji has more self-respect than that"

If he did the story wouldnt exist

D A N N Y   W H E R E   I S   R E Z E   A R C ?

Denji in the manga canonically watches popular science shows on TV
So he knows what perpetual motion machine is

“Is this show almost done hurting me?” No…its just getting warmed up

Also can we appreciate how FUCKING SCARY kobeni is? Sure, she's anxious and terrified of everything. But she is a fucking knife-gremlin who can also sneak up behind people without being detected. She's terrified of everything, but she's also the reason to be afraid.
There is a non-zero chance Kobeni is behind you right now

Danny's Himeno arc is hysterical. "Aww, my dude... just-- just stop now. ( - - -) You poor bastard. Same."

I just gotta say: Denji is extremely relatable as a protagonist, he’s sixteen and his two biggest goals are eating a good breakfast and copping a feelski, and because of best dog Pochita’s sacrifice he is able to achieve both of these.

i will finally understand what my girlfriend is obsessed with thank you

1:09:40 Hands down my favorite Danny Reaction ever.

This man has accidentally predicted everything that happens in this series

Fun fact : the main 4 characters(Denji, Aki, Power and Makima) Japanese voice actors are all relatively new to the scene

Danny: I swear to god if this guy starts woofing-
Denji 3 seconds later: Wan!
