An intermediate step is to fly the foil from your knees to feel how weight shift affects the foil. This can help w the transition to standing, which can feel overwhelming the first few times the foil takes flight.

I was progressing very well behind boat and gaining confidence, until I fell into the foil. Not exactly sure how I got into that position. Maybe I was on edge and then hung on too long to the rope which pulled me over and onto the foil. Very glad I had helmet. Makes me very hesitant to try again behind boat. Any suggestions how to avoid falling on foil?

I don’t know exactly why, but I struggled behind the boat. With a wing and good wind it suddenly clicked and within 2h I could foil for several hundred meters.
So I am not sure if behind a boat is a good method.
