Wax isn't just for candles. Also known as hot wax painting, the encaustic medium uses heated, pigmented beeswax to create one-of-a-kind wall art. You're sure to love the results of using this timeless medium with a stencil and luxurious gold embellishing wax.

Thanks for watching how to do Encaustic do you think you will give it a go?

It looked like you were using regular stretched canvas for acrylic and oil painting. For whoever is watching, you really should use Clayboard or wood panels for encaustic. Stretched canvas allows movement of the substrate, and can cause the wax to crack or peel off. Just some friendly advice. Otherwise, great video! Thanks!😀❤️

Good tip on how to melt the wax on the burner and using clothespins to lift it off the burner !

Fusing is the term for ensuring each layer sticks to the next. The wax doesn’t stick to the substrate without encaustic gesso unless you are working on wood. These are so beautiful. I really hope they last and don’t flake away over time ❤

Thank you for this informative video, Kari. Is the starter kit still available?

Gesso on the canvas isn’t porous…hence the white patches.

You do not mention the base coat you put on your panel. Why not ?

Kari, thank you for sharing, I wouldn’t have thought of canvas, I also saw someone using tiles. I think the smaller canvases would work rather than the large. Large might sag, unless spiratically done.
