Step back into classic British television with Steptoe and Son Series 1 (1966) — one of the BBC’s most iconic comedy series.

Set in Shepherd’s Bush, West London, this legendary sitcom follows the lives of rag-and-bone men Albert and Harold Steptoe, living at 26a Oil Drum Lane. Their chaotic, often hilarious relationship is built on constant conflict—Harold dreams of escaping poverty and bettering himself, while his manipulative father Albert does everything he can to keep him right where he is.

Starring Wilfrid Brambell as the scruffy, scheming Albert and Harry H. Corbett as the frustrated, ambitious Harold, Steptoe and Son blends sharp comedy with surprisingly deep social realism. Beneath the laughs lies a powerful story of class struggle, family tension, and unfulfilled dreams in 1960s London.

Originally broadcast on the BBC in 1966, this groundbreaking series became one of Britain’s most beloved sitcoms, influencing generations of comedy that followed.
