Harry Styles shocked the running world when he ran 2:59:13 at the Berlin Marathon. As a fellow Harry and runner, with a PB of 3:06:38 I knew there was only one thing to do: head to Manchester - widely considered the UK’s fastest major marathon - to see if I could beat his time and run my first ever Sub 3.

The writing on the road at 14:00 was done by my two daughters! Hope we got the distance right.😲 They were so excited to see it in the video. Great work on the sub-3, Harry

This was my first ever marathon. I broke my fifth metatarsal 7 weeks before. I was gutted as I had trained so hard to run it for the Christie and it was looking impossible for me to do it. I had been told by the nurses not to run it as it would take 2-3 months to fully recover and could risk re-breaking it or worse. But using my knowledge as a PT and after doing tons of rehab I was able to run the marathon. Not the time I’d wanted or hoped for (4 hours 56 minutes and 49 seconds) but I was so proud. Not only for the reason I was running the marathon but to have completed it despite the odds. I did think of you Harry on the day and wondered if you were running it. Wish I could have met you. Well done on the PB and keep inspiring people. It was one of the best days of my life. Thank you to my amazing partner, family, friends and all the supporters 👏🏻

Well done. Great achievement for only your third marathon. The Manchester marathon is always a great day and I find your videos inspiring. I saw you around mile 21 and you were working hard. Watching the marathon inspired me to sign up for next year. Brave or foolish, I'm yet to decide.

Congratulations on the time — great video, too! I used the 5km jogging plan and knocked three minutes off my PB, so thank you for that. Maybe I'll get back to the marathon one day.
