- names their company after a character that betrays Master Chief
- betrays the franchise with a series of lacklustre games

3:28 My favorite Halo CE:A tidbit is how there was a make-a-wish kid with a terminal illness that really loved Halo. So 343 got permission to get face scans and such in order to make the kid's appearance into a unique UNSC Model in the game, that way he will always live on in the Halo Universe. Sounds really sweet until you realize that they decided to have the first UNSC Technician npc that wakes you up from cryo be the kids tie-in model, who starts off with having you do the looking and shield recharge tutorial and then dies from a door explosion not even 2 minutes into the actual gameplay

343 including Halo 4 in the MCC is like having to include a friend's little sibling into the group because mom said so.

When I was 14 my WiFi went down during the same week that halo reach was being released, my buddy that lived 10 minutes down the road told me to just bring my Xbox over after school and I could download/play it there. I only had an old 80-100lb CRT tv at the time so I ended up carrying the tv about 50m at a time before putting it down to go back and grab the small box with the Xbox/controllers in it. I did that the whole way there and looked like I just jumped in a pool with how bad I was sweating.. To top it off, as soon as I made it to his driveway I tripped and dropped the tv right on the concrete. Somehow the screen didn’t crack, but something got tweaked or broken because it had a permanent neon green/purple filter that made every game pretty much unplayable. Then I spent like 3 hours watching him play while waiting for my game to download, when it was finally around 90%, his mom came in and told him they had to go shopping.. I carried that stuff for like half a mile, drenched my clothes with sweat, broke my tv, didn’t get to play reach, didn’t even get to finish the download, then had to pack it all up and carry it all back again 😂

People forget that it took 343i Five years to get MCC into a playable state after the disaster release, and now on PC the multiplayer is overrun by cheaters. Now it's just a time capsule of all Bungie left behind with no one to inherit.

@PlastiGomi 1 month ago

it took them almost 10 years to make a collection of old games playable
343 might be the most incompetent studio in history

"You see this!!? 343 didn't make this! They didn't earn this!!"

Those words live in my head rent free...

Who else is here after the news of Halo going to activision and 343 basically getting shut down.

Funny how while Halo fans are suffering with 343's blunder in their early days, Bungie fans are wondering why Bungie doesn't have time to explain their new game's story

@neilhannan7525 1 month ago

Developers when they have to do a remake their game the same story but with different graphics: 😞🤔

I believe that MCC’s launch did more long term damage to Halo than anything else Microsoft has done with the brand, and they clearly didn’t care enough to treat it with respect. It killed off classic Halo due to how bad its reputation was from the unresolved bugs that didn’t get fixed for YEARS. Thats the kind of neglect that borders on intentionally sinking your own ship.

I don’t know if I can go through this emotional turmoil again. It still feels fresh.

343, the only game dev company so bad, they can make amazingly made games into badly made games without even making original assets.

I'm surprised there was no brief mention of ElDewrito which helped show 343 management that there was a market for Halo on PC leading to the eventual MCC port. Also the absolutely baffling decision to make Halo Online in the first place, a f2p PC game exclusively for the Russian market using Halo 3's engine when fans had been asking for a Halo 3 PC port for so many years.

@graye2799 1 month ago

the only Halo game that had a mostly positive reception in the last decade was Halo Wars 2, and 343 didn't even make it.

@Crusty783 1 month ago

343 will never learn bro

@NoahWanger 1 month ago

343/Halo Studios had at this point 15 years to make a good Halo game, and they failed to do so. I don't think they will ever do so especially with their revolving door of contractors.

@Potatoboi732 1 month ago

From what I undestand, the reason mcc was such a mess was because it was originally only going to be H2A as a standalone release, but Microsoft upper management wanted the rest of the games included as well. So 343 had to figure out how to get 4 different games to work under one package in something like a year of dev time, while also actively working on Halo 5. Complete nightmare situation for the devs.
