How do we decide where to travel next when we’re traveling full-time?

It’s not as simple as picking a country that looks good on Instagram. 😅

We're in Da Nang, Vietnam right now, but how did we pick this destination to visit?

Every destination we choose is a combination of what we want to experience, our budget, visa and stay requirements, safety, weather, transportation, and what it’s actually like to LIVE there.

Our goal is to average about $4,000 per month, so we intentionally balance more expensive destinations with lower-cost countries. We also have to work around things like the Schengen 90/180 rule and other visa restrictions.

But there’s another factor that has become increasingly important: Could we see ourselves living here long-term?

We’re slowly moving toward a slower style of travel, and eventually we may want to spend several months—or even years—in one place while continuing to travel from a home base.

In this video, we take you behind the scenes of how we research destinations, compare our options, plan around visas and seasons, consider cost of living and logistics, and decide whether a place belongs on our itinerary.

We’ll also share some of the tools we use—including YouTube, articles, other travelers, Instagram, Google Maps, and ChatGPT—to help us make those decisions.

If you’re planning your own long-term travel, dreaming about becoming a full-time traveler, or simply curious about how we manage to keep moving without completely blowing our budget, this video will give you a look at the process behind the scenes.

Where would YOU go if you could spend a month anywhere in the world? Tell us in the comments! 🌎
