Yeah, in DbD, when you get taken to that realm, there is no escape. Some of the killers were former normal people who just went through the entity's cycle and became killers. The Killers are, in every way, also victims of the entity, which wants a wide range of people to torture and to feed off of their emotions. Taking strong-willed people like Bill to torture them, in hopes of breaking them, would fit its MO, but it's hard to know if it takes a fragment of that person or the person itself, like ripping their soul out, leaving a dead body behind in the real world.

I figure the Green Flu is called that because it started with "flu-like" symptoms, but the mucus/snot made from it was green (hence the boomer bile), but as anyone who has played Plague Inc can attest, while it starts slow, it slowly ramps up, whether you want it to or not. And by the time an attempt to find a cure is started, you are left with having to ramp it up faster and faster to try to kill everyone before a cure is found.

The reason, in-game, why there are no children may be that they lack what is needed for the virus to propagate, which could be lethal to children, and only adults can be infected. Carriers are just the asymptomatic mutation intended for further spread of the virus. But as the virus seems to be evolving and changing, other strains form, the normal version that makes the normal infected, the special infected, which could very much be what happens to carriers when they die, and the immune system stops working.

To add to the whole biblical/hell allegory, there are 8 types of special infected, and originally there were 8 deadly sins before they became the 7 deadly sins. Envy, Wrath, Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Sloth, and Pride, and an eighth was Despondency. Wrath could be the Tank, Gluttony would be Boomer, and most of all, the Witch would be Despondency. The other 5 we'd have to look into more and see where they line up, like the obvious joke is the charger represents Lust, given his disproportionate arms and how eager to "bang" people they are.

Also i find the whole 'Your life habits influence what special infected you become' thing is one headcanon among many, we'd probably be seeing a lot more Tanks and Smokers if steroid use and habitual smokers had any influence on what a disease does to you
Mine is that there really are like 50 different strains of the Green Flu going around and the Tank, Witch, Spitter, etc. strains are so contagious but so deadly that most who contract those straight up die from their ruined bodies or stomach acids increasing in pH levels, the few you see ingame are the ones who were 'lucky' enough to adapt and endure for a few weeks longer to be a problem for the Survivors. I wouldn't be surprised if for example the Boomer wasn't even fat before getting sick, it's just that specific strain of Green Flu is so nasty it swells you up by five times your original mass, fills you with bile and gasses and puss and somehow turns you into a walking pheromone for other zombies

There's also a relatively small chance (something like 1 in 20) that there is an alternate escape where the elevator breaks and falls into the morgue where you simply have to sprint to the end of the hall but some of the bodies in the gurneys start twitching when you approach them.

All these easter eggs survived into the Payday 2 port years later. They even increased the chance of the alternate escape to something like 1 in 4 since finding it is tied to an achievment. No Mercy is also a major story beat in Payday lore itself so its a required level in story mode. Also, I believe the story mode version will always trigger the alternate escape so technically the alternate escape is canon.

Those were still used during the time the game came out mostly by the National guard. The specific M16 you use is a M16A2 (Note the circular handguard).

"the reaping" thing is kinda how the first game handles survival maps, they all have descriptions describing scenarios where something goes wrong resulting in a final stand. the sewer bridge switch in death toll blows up and stops the bridge for example, the fire in dead air wasn't enough to burn down the barricade or the airport was barricaded, i believe the original last stand map description talks about a wrong turn resulting in, well, a last stand

1:32:20 There is a mod pack relating to the nightmare mod where it does say L4D is taking place in a dream, a dream that's shared to anyone sleeping with you being alone (the bots don't spawn in) or with a friend or 3 (filling the 4 human character slots, there is no bots) and it works really well! it's basically taking the whole of L4D and L4D2 and putting it in a nightmare where if you die in the dream it affects your physical self in the real world and you die there. also skinwalker Rochelle also for the witch which is pretty good. The campaign loading screens are changed to make it look like a diary in the mind of zoey about the whole thing, i highly recommend it!

Honestly I love both cinematic. The 1st one gave you that sense of hopelessness, loneliness and this horror like vibe but the second one makes you feel like a bad ass. It gives you hope, a feeling of family and the vibe that as long as you stick together you can do anything. Where 1 is more dark and dreary , 2 is more light and happy.

It had your normal arcade machine buttons no joysticks or anything, and mostly was playable.
