I heard that when Purple Francis bites a Zombie, it turns back into a human.

the horror sounds from half life are the results of gordons morphine addiction

"Do you think Coach was his first or last name?" Never gets old.

Purple Francis reminds me of that time the Fear and Hunger wiki got crazy vandalised and the mods changed everything except ONE image of Levi as Nishikiyama from Yakuza that stayed Post-Purge

3:07 there is dialogue in the passing where Rochelle says "Okay Carl" Referring to coach. Could just be a joke, interesting none the less!

One thing i see nobody talk about is how the white chopper from highrise is the same "bright chopper" that you see if you're under the No mercy hospital, people assume it's a lighting issue with it, but it's the actual white chopper with it's own number

Could watch left 4 dead stuff forever

I forgot that Coach isn't his actual name. I got so used to/desensitized to it that it began to sound like a real name

In relation to the Community Lines like Ellis saying the TF2 line. I've heard that Valve just recorded those for community mappers to use in their campaign if there was a reason to use them. An example is the snow level voicelines, that was an example I read where modders can use that for a snowy map

I got so scared when the horror segment came on, and then I saw half life and almost pooped my pants from fear. Old games are scary!

5:57 they’re holding MP5’s with scopes onto them, L4D2, Ellis and Rochelle hold MK18’s and Nick and Coach are using AK-74M’s

28:00 as someone who dug into the sound files wayyyy back in the day, I can confirm there were two "zombie dog" wav files in the Left 4 Dead sound files. I hope someone preserved those.

the curling map was probably a physics/ surface properties testing minigame all in one

10/10 would watch while eating again

This game still holds up so well and the hidden lore is so fascinating

I genuinely thought Depeche Mode was a fictional band made up for the game from when I started playing it around 9 to finally finding out at 13 they were real

30:20 at launch the fallen survivor was included in the files of left 4 dead 2 but remained unused the original version of it also had a completely different gameplay ability being that if you shot him he would've straight up burst into fire *due to the molotov on his model which qould always be there*.

6:08 Regarding the survivor posters, those were absolutely 100% painted over photos of the characters' IRL models. Most of the campaigns have their posters available online in ultra high resolution for the sake of printing physical copies, and if you zoom in on certain spots you can see parts of the original photos that were NOT painted over, leaving a bit of the real person visible underneath -- most noticeably around the eyes. I don't know if the original unpainted photos were ever leaked, but I'm confident the painted look was all done by hand.

Also, thanks for giving more attention to the unreleased Dam and River campaigns! I hope someday we see talented modders release polished, finished versions of both cut campaigns at 2-3 chapters each -- I know Dam It has already been remastered twice, but neither version was polished to the standard of a vanilla campaign. I'd do it myself if I had the time, but I can barely finish the campaigns I've already started lol

Actually interesting thing about the original Terror Strike name at 21:15, but I just found this out last month but there was actually an entirely other game that used the Terror Strike name called the Regiment developed by both Kuju entertainment and Konami surprisingly, it was renamed to Terror Strike: Close Quarters combat in 2007 when it was released in the US so it could be possible that Turtle Rock changed the game’s original name to avoid copyright issues with Konami :v

3:48 The community also made the name “Darnell Coleman” as Coach’s real name, combining both of his actors (Darnell Rice and Chad Coleman) to make it.

Also the Dam It/The River survival maps are actually super interesting, I have never heard anyone talk about them before and they are very intriguing!
