Everyone marrying their high school sweetheart makes a lot more sense when you consider that most estimates put the magical population of Britain around 10-20,000; basically a small to medium-size town. And it’s quite insular, making dating muggles difficult and uncommon. With such limited prospects, it makes sense that they would glom on to the first person available.

Personally, my favorite relationship from the books is Mr and Mrs Weasley.

It’s so interesting that you think Ron would want Hermione to turn into Mrs. Weasley when I think the opposite. I think Ron turns into Mrs. Weasley as he gets older. In the books, he’s already exhibiting mother hen behavior, lol.

The issue with couples like Draco x Hermione is that it romanticizes toxic and abusive relationships to an impressionable teenage audience.

I really like Harry and Luna. She was one of the very few characters that didn’t see Harry as ‘the boy who lived’ or ‘the chosen one’ other than Ron and Hermione. He was just the kid who could also see thestrals. They have a few good moments of emotional connection and they are both laid back enough to accept each other’s flaws. I could definitely see them together.

I think its interesting that you can buy James Potter maturing with age without ever being shown it in the books but can't buy the same thing with Ron. Like Ron's experience in the war can't mature him into a support for Hermione instead of a baggage because they didn't explicitly talk about it after the war

While I see what you mean with wanting Harry to find out who he is by himself after everything he's been through, psychologically it does make sense for him to settle down quickly. We're talking about a kid who not only had to grow up way too early ever since he entered the magical world, he didn't have any familial bonds to lean on and had already suffered abuse from the Durslies for years. I won't comment on wether it is healthy or not for him to jump the family wagon with Ginny, but it is very realistic for him to do so.
Also, as someone who lived through enough wars, I can relate to what Molly said in HBP about wars making people want to settle down faster than they might have would under different circumstances. I always took her remark not just as a remark on Bill and Fleur's relationship but also as a foreshadowing.

The reason I’m okay with Harry marrying his high school sweetheart (besides the fact that i love harry and ginny) is that I’d imagine he has such bad trust issues even more so after the war that he wants to keep a low profile and avoid opening up to new people who don’t understand what he went through, I imagine marrying Ginny and being officially a Weasley is one of the only things that would make him feel safe and grounded. ok editing this after hearing your whole take, i agree that they would separate for a while and then later settle down together

I view "Neville and Luna" in a similar light as "Harry and Hermione" as couples. It's not that a pairing of them makes no sense. There's plenty of good reasons why they COULD have gotten together. But there's also reasons they don't and those are valid and make for a better story.

My favorite canon couple is Fleur and Bill, but I don't think I have a favorite non-canon, though I do like Harry and Ginny together, I prefer to read fanfiction where Harry falls for someone else.

I am going to make a lot of people mad saying this, but I'm sorry, but I just don't see Wolfstar as a good ship, you have to ignore a lot of canon to even make that relationship work, with all the betrayal and mistrust, its toxic, not to mention Sirius used Remus to try and kill someone, it's a miracle they were still friends by the time they left Hogwarts.

I think the weirdest ship I've ever come across in fanfiction was Sirius and Snape, really, I've come across a few of those lately, and I really don't understand that one.
