I love under the gravel filters.  Have been using since 1970.  I believe currently all of mine are the white perfect flow (Perfecto Manufacturing).

I've been using undergravel filters since the 80s. Love the idea of the easy flow kit modification! If you are going to change over more tanks, I would highly suggest Lee's premium UGF. They cost too much in my opinion, but the plates are substantially stronger and the riser tube connection is the only way to go. The little plastic tabs on penn plax are the weak point. Lee's solved that problem and I know you like things to be just a little bit better when possible. Thanks for the video and showing how to use the easy flow with UGF.

The small fish feed reminds me of feeding my grandfather's koi fry in the spring. He used to make his own fry food by grinding koi pellets into powder.

I always talk to my shrimp. I have one little guy who comes to see me every morning.

My 1960s book said for small leaks just throw a handful of powdered clay in water

Awesomeness, you are finally offering a fine sponge filter soon❤

UGF's work well covered with landscape/geotextile fabric. Then you can add pool filter sand with lots of surface area for biological and the filter plates stay clean underneath. The fabric works as a mechanical filter as well, keeping the water clear. I've got ugf's running for 5 years like this with pool filter sand and still clean underneath the filter plates.
On a different note, having the uplift tube next to the over flow (like you had it setup on a tank in the video) is a way to keep floating plants away from the overflow to avoid clogging the overflow.

I really wish i could find  the 70s/80s style UG filter the pressed plastic sheet jobs with ridges moulded into them and then slits cut through the ridges
I had a set up with these running a reverse flow ug filter with a powerhead going in reverse through a 3 inch bed of fine gravel the plant growth was as good as or better than the best aquasoil and if it got clogged you just pushed the syphoned tube into the bottom and syphoned all the mulm out
all the nutrients are supplied to the plant roots if you need to use a liquid fertiliser it also works for the root feeding plants and you never get dead pockets in the gravel and because the aerobic bacteria eat some of the oxygen it co2 enriches the water passing the roots ( that can actually absorb a good amount of CO2 that they dont normally get)
unfortunately I dont think the modern click together plates are raised enough to feed a large enough syphon tube down for cleaning them out

Watching those fry chomp on the magic fish feed has sold me! I’ve been crushing the xtreme krill flake in a mortar and pestle to feed my fry for the past couple years but this has me really curious!

The Magic Small Fish Feed has been a God send to me.  I keep nano fish primarily (clown killifish, chili Rasbora, Scarlet Badis) and this food is the perfect size.  The macronutrient profile is very impressive and I feel like I could ONLY feed this food and be more than fine.  I wish there was more flavors as well.

The midnight pearl is my favourite grain size for substrate. Gravel sand, not too big not too small.

I have a bad habit of leaving trails/piles of fish room junk around my room too 😂 I’m sure most of it is my adhd and wanting to get maximum dopamine by going project to project and only owing the fun and rewarding parts lol

Love the constant super troopers Reference lol

Glue on some sides to the under gravel grate, and plant a Java fern on top, I bet it would take off like crazy once the mulm build up.

Wooo love this long form fish room stuff. Keeping me inspired. I leave for Hong Kong on business on Friday and going back to look at your fish market video to figure out where to go 😊

I love a deep substrate so I would love the option to have a taller collar! Great work, thanks as always for letting us in on your process

💯 can't wait for a fine foam aquarium Co op filter!!!!!!!

Interesting on the undergravel filter.
Would be interesting to see what it would do to plant grow, by driving nutrients to the roots.

Glad to see you promoting the use of the UGF's! The best filtration is a UGF and a HOB combo. Looks way better than a sponge filter. If you haven't tried them do yourself a favor and install an UGF you wont' be sorry!

Good morning all!
