One of the best songs ever written.....

Robert Smith is in a class of his own, a real artist and a real genuine person.

It's the words of losing ones heart..... one of their finest! ❤

The aura of this song is so absolutely beautiful sad 💜

If only I'd thought of the right words
I could have held on to your heart.

This song stands as one of The Cure’s most renowned and emotionally charged songs, capturing the bittersweet beauty of loss, nostalgia, and memory. Its magic lies not only in the lyrics and music but also in the video, which visually amplifies the song’s melancholy. The track opens with an unusually long intro, stretching over a minute, gradually unfolding to prepare the listener for the emotional journey ahead. The intertwining guitar lines and the slowly building drums evoke the passage of time and the gentle resurfacing of memories, drawing the listener into a world of photographs where fleeting moments take shape. When Robert Smith finally begins to sing, each line reflects a specific image, transforming the song into a personal album of recollections. The chorus serves as the emotional apex: the repeated “I know the fear” lines encapsulate both the ache of loss and the yearning for the past, turning memories into sensations that are at once beautiful and painful.

The video itself was filmed near the snowy Glencoe during what has been called “the great snow weekend.” Tim Pope employed three Super-8 cameras and handed one to each crew member to create a homey, intimate atmosphere. At one point, Robert Smith even operated a camera himself, adding to the personal feel. The band performs amid a snowy landscape, punctuated by surreal elements—artificial palm trees and a person in a polar bear costume - that blur the line between memory and reality, heightening the dreamlike quality. In this way, Pictures of You is far more than a song; it is an emotional voyage, where the slow unfolding, the image-inspired lyrics, and the surreal visual world combine to produce a hauntingly beautiful experience that has cemented its place as one of The Cure’s most beloved works.

Great heartfelt song.

Saw them live in Scotland in the early 90s.One of my favorite concerts.Really a magical time to be alive.

Love Song is The Cure's most beautiful song, that should be next you will love it.

The Chameleons and the Sound are your next heard... the most underrated band of post punk

Easily my favorite song from them. I really like seeing them doing it live and watching them interact musically through the long intro.

the cure is actually relatively new to me eventhough i was born in 1979 but didnt get into their music until recently with one exception , close to me by the cure heard it sometime in the 90's didnt knew who is was with but found out a couple of years ago and then started listening a bit more to the cure.
thanks for reaction btw

This takes me to another life on another shore

Their best song I think. I got hooked on them while stationed in the UK in the 1980's. Check out 'Just Like Heaven' and 'Lovesong'. Peace.

:trophy-yellow-smiling:Congratulations for you Marianne!:trophy-yellow-smiling: on appreciating this impressive, impossible, and legendary band hailing from my cherished Gothic School—a band so complete that it even reaches the Mystery of the Life of Jesus Christ. - Me 52yo, single, from BRAZIL, The Land of The Tears & Honey

A lovely song, I have been a fan of The Cure since the 80's, lol.

Another interpretation is that the pictures are the memories of a person. Memories biased by our own desires, hopes and aspirations.

Love your your reaction to this MV. Very good.

Joy Devision or the Pscho -furs all like the cure are poets of sound!
