A drop of mineral oil inside the female half of the snap will do wonders when they're new with no harm done to the snap. Looks like Council tool has really upped their gaame! That's great to see!
That is nice axe. A reviewer, Ben Scott, stated that he felt Council Tool made a better working axe for the money than Gransfors Bruks. The Council Tool Sport Utility Boys axe looks interesting as well.
IMO the 24" handles are probably the measurement of the handles before they are custom fitted to the head and wooden wedge inserted. After, whatever is sticking over the top, which is the the excess, would be trimmed off and then the metal wedge inserted .
Its bc the handle starts out 24 in but after hung you can loose up to 2 inch or more in some drastic cases. If you read their info it says hung on a 24 in handle. Fantom bevel is the name you asked about.
24 inches is the length of the handle before they hang it. A variety of conditions will affect the final length. It's like when you order a 1/4 or 1/2 pound burger - weight before cooking.
I wanted to get one if these in the EU but they are hard to come by. Wrote to Lamnia about this, hopefully they will be able to get us some of these over the big pond!
The swedish axes are dead to me now. This is American made and with a superior steel. It's also better suited to the hardwoods found here in America, like my region in MN where there is deciduous and hardwood forests.
