A Haka can also be a sign of respect. At graduations, at funerals, at weddings... I've seen people do/give a Haka to honour someone.
My father received a haka from the school he taught at, at his funeral. Brought tears to my eyes!

The previous women's RWC final between NZ and England for an excellent example of rugby.

The rivalry continues in September when the Boks travel to New Zealand for 2 test matches. Gonna be insane!

As an Aussie, I bloody love the Haka

Kia ora from the king Country in New Zealand,  just watched our 10 year old grandson do the haka at the start of their game this morning - it was brilliant.  We start them young - and a great warm up & they won.

This is one of the best All Black vs Austrian games ever

There are many different Haka from different Pacific cultures, A Haka at a Tangi (funeral) are some of the most powerful events you will ever experience the raw emotion that is emitted is undescribable, it completely takes a hold of your emotions. Completely different feeling to a haka before a game but both powerful in their own right.

This is a great video for those Americans who aren't familiar with Rugby to understand the nuances of the 'offense' area of the game.
There are no knee on the ground stoppages like American football.

Kia Ora (greetings). On Haka, the ABs have 2, the 1st "Ka Mate" "Is it death, or life?"(kar ma tee) was written in ~1820 by Chief Te Rauparaha, 2nd "Kapa O Pango" "Warriors/Team in Black" written 2004 by ABs. Haka were used by NZ Natives 1888 tour of Canada, USA & UK. First national anthem in sport was the Welsh crowd spontaneously singing theirs in response to the 1905/6 "Originals" Haka v Wales match/test (was 1st team called "All Blacks") So Haka predate national anthems in sport by 2 decades (for those who want Haka in sport stopped), Northern Hemisphere does anthems South Pacific does challenges (NZ, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga + others). There are many Haka, I learnt my school's Haka way before the school song

In both rugby codes what you're calling a stiff arm is called a palm off. A stiff arm in both rugby codes is an ILLEGAL tackle attempt where the arm is held out straignt and hits the ball carrier across either the throat or head.

19:15 you can't block in rugby, you'll be penalised for obstruction. There are some moments when you see this happen; a player kicks the ball, his teammate runs to retrieve it, a player on the opposite team runs to try & catch it as well but one or two of his teammates "subtly" blocks the way of the attacking player trying to catch. The team blocking then gets penalised. This also applies to tackling. You also can't block people from trying to tackle the person with the ball.
This is why you'll sometimes see players kick when they're on the run, it stops the defending team from trying to tackle them and forces them to get the ball instead. This gives the attacking team more metres whether or not they immediately regather the ball. If they regathered it they can continue the attack, if not, you just pushed the other team deeper into their own half.

I would recommend Squidge Rugby's history of All Blacks vs Springboks. It is genuinely one of the great sporting rivalries with an incredibly rich history

The Rivalry with the Springboks is built on a mutual respect which makes the battles even better

The guy leading the Haka at the start is Dane Coles and he comes into my work quite regularly, nice bloke and very humble.

Different hakas are done by Samoans, Tongans, etc (its a Pacific Islands thing) every tribe has different hakas, New Zealand it's from the Maoris, the white guys join in, they're all New Zealanders so why not, its a New Zealand tradition

Haven't watched this yet but I'm so envious if this is your 1st time seeing The Haka - it's spine tingling - even after 30 years of seeing it! They are playing France again tomorrow so there will be a Haka live for it!
Also it's the 1st test game for Australia v British & Irish Lions tomorrow!
& Also US v England 😊

On the 6th and 13th of September, the Springboks will play the All Blacks in New Zealand at Eden Park which is New Zealands’ “Fortress” and the All Blacks hasn’t lost a game in that stadium in 31 years (50 games). The Springboks are the current rugby world champions. Both teams have a lot to play for.  These two games are the most anticipated rugby games of 2025. If you want to watch a Springbok vs All Black game, then these two upcoming games will meet every expectation you might have.

Australia v New Zealand All Blacks year 2000. Best game ever.

You are correct that you can't tackle anyone who doesn't have the ball. That's why a chip or grubber kick is the way to open up the defence, because you can't be tackled until you recover the ball again. Love your enthusiasm, dude! 🙂

As a South African, All Blacks are the most feared rugby team in the world.

They  are the Only Other Team in the world.

Top 4 are are pretty hotly contested right now. In the last world cup, where SA won, we won the quarters, semis and final by just 1 point each game.
