📍 SEGOVIA, SPAIN | Bee-Eaters, Hoopoes & Incredible Iberian Birds!

Join me as I travel to the stunning region of Segovia, Spain, in search of some of the Iberian Peninsula's most beautiful and charismatic bird species. From the dazzling colours of the European Bee-eater to the unmistakable Hoopoe, this trip delivered unforgettable wildlife encounters and some fantastic photography opportunities.

Over several days we explored a variety of habitats, photographing Bee-eaters in flight, Hoopoes carrying food, elusive warblers, larks, shrikes and many other fascinating species. Just when we thought the trip couldn't get any better, we were treated to a surprise encounter with one of Spain's most mysterious birds – the Nightjar.

This was a trip packed with colour, behaviour, and incredible photographic opportunities, showcasing why Spain remains one of Europe's premier destinations for bird photography.

Whether you're a wildlife photographer, birder, nature lover or simply enjoy exploring new places, I hope this adventure inspires you to get outdoors and discover the incredible wildlife that Europe has to offer.

If you enjoy the video, please leave a like, comment with your favourite species, and subscribe for more wildlife photography adventures from around the world.

Fabulous variety Mike and beautiful images. The Hoopoe and Bee Eaters are stunning but I’m with you as far as the Little Owls are concerned. Recently spent a morning at Tim Lees Hides with the Little Owls and got some of my best ever images, such characters. Looking forward to more episodes 👌👍

What a wonderful video, Mike! It's absolutely true we have this amazing diversity of birds here in Segovia. We're so lucky. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Mike, it's the 3rd time I've watched this video over the last couple of months so thought it only fair to leave a comment. I feel I can really relate to wildlife footage like this more so than BBC shows shot in Africa etc. Watching a guy with a camera/lens not too different from mine, sitting in a hide or trekking round the wilds is something I have much more of an affinity to. Add to that your natural screen presence, great commentary, top notch wildlife & excellent photography - what a great watch, keep them coming! Cliff

The Hoopoe is such a beautiful bird, The way it bounces up through the air when in flight is always a joy to see.

Nice video man! I have a couple of those Hoopoes living in my garden in Madrid. They are very friendly. In Spain we call it Abubilla :)

The light in Segovia is special, due to various factors, and painters and writers often refer to it. There's a saying that captures this: "Segovia, light of Castile." (Segovia luz de Castilla).
