Mushroom photography is something I only photograph occasionally, but this year I decided to get into the woods earlier in the season and see what I could find.
The challenge was that I didn’t have a macro lens, so instead I used my Sigma 24-105mm Art lens, focus stacking and a combination of natural and artificial light to photograph a range of mushrooms, including some extremely small subjects.
In this video I show you my approach, how I used different light sources, why I took multiple images for each final photograph and how focus stacking allowed me to create sharp images without using a dedicated macro lens.
