How did we end up here?
It all began with a year of full-time travel, embracing the van life until the world shifted, and we had to adjust accordingly. With travel no longer an option but determined to stay productive, we transformed our compact mobile abode into a self-sufficient off-grid dwelling that fulfilled all our needs. Recognizing the uncertainty of the current tiny home, we quickly realized a permanent residence was the most sensible choice! Over the past five years, we have meticulously overseen every aspect of the project ourselves, planning the construction while simultaneously setting up the off-grid property to sustain our future food requirements! The Shipping Container Home is officially complete!

It is just suchhhh a gut punch that the rot and other issues weren't isolated to the office/addition area. While this is a much bigger project than we ever imagined it being, it is a little exciting to imagine what we can make from this old knotty pine of a rotted cabin🤣

What a blessing to have found Dumpy.

Your strength of character is commendable. I would be a blob of despair. I am so sorry, heartbreaking.

"Eventually becomes now!" Great philosophy for this project.

After all the major setbacks you went through with the container home, I must say you seem to be handling this disaster with more calm and less depression than before. My little boys are growing up.

If anyone can help you two make it right, it's Dumpy. I swear there's nothing the man can't do. Sending love to all three of you!

Todd & Dumpy are a hilarious pair… they need their own show!!! I am never amazed by what either of them says… pure comedy!!!

@katiehillis2990 8 hours ago

I am so sorry that this happened to you. On the other hand, anybody else would be crying. You two can do this and probably do it better than anybody else. Sending good thoughts.

Gentlemen, I am so sorry! That is a lot of work.
Thankfully you have the incredible MR. Dumpy!!❤❤❤❤

You will come out the other side of all of this and the cabin will be even better. Sending you lots of love and hugs.

The addition was built on a prayer and a lot of caulking and silicone. Lol. Someone was an absolute amateur builder who really didn’t know what he/they were doing.

Dumpy is an absolute treasure to have as a foreman on this project. Thank goodness for Dumpy!

OMG. You guys. I've been watching your videos since the very beginning. I'm a 72 year old married women in Connecticut US, but I still find your ability to maintain some kind of wonderfulness at all the disasters. Love Dumpy. We live in an old house with a big garden so I get a lot of what you do, but this lake house is a disaster. I'm sorry for you. It probably wasn't built to last very long. I admire that you tough it out.

"Eventually, things become now." 🤣🤣🤣 Todd, there is no more accurate phrase than that! I'm amazed I haven't seen this on a t-shirt! Guys, you are amazing! And Dumpy is just the best! What an absolute blessing to have his expertise and knowledge on another project! Love you guys, and sending some super supportive virtual hugs your way! ❤❤❤❤❤

I feel like you guys, Vanwives, Eamon and Bec, and Max (of Max & Occy) should have a big damn party next year after you all solve all these issues that all of y'all keep running into that cost so much to fix! Good on ya for carrying it through. Dumpy is the best mentor.

The good thing guys is that you can remodel the house to suit your needs. Don't be afraid to go full on in the remodelling. Start working on the new designs over Winter to create the house you want. Look at it as an opportunity, not a disaster. You can do this guys.
