What did you think of Carmelle’s performance and this song choice for her? Did the rap and dance break surprise you as much as it surprised me? Drop your honest thoughts in the comments below! 👇

“Sobra-Sobra” actually makes sense as a Eurovision choice. Look at recent winners: while their genres and tempos vary, many stand out because of strong musical and cultural identity, memorable hooks, genre-blending, and performances designed for high-concept staging.

Carmelle’s “Sobra-Sobra” fits that direction - it’s upbeat, energetic, distinctly Filipino, catchy, and has plenty of potential for a memorable stage performance. 🇵🇭✨ It’s not about copying previous winners; it’s about understanding what has connected with Eurovision audiences and bringing our own Filipino identity to the stage.

Now it all comes down to staging and making those three minutes unforgettable. 🇵🇭

I respectfully disagree with your opinion. First, the song is complete package features Carmelle singing while dancing, and it combines ballad, rap, and both high and low notes making it a very challenging piece to perform. Second, not all viewers recognize her solely as a ‘power belter,’ so this should not be considered a disadvantage. The song itself is catchy, upbeat, and easy to memorize, which allows listeners to have it replaying in their minds. While her performance may not have been perfect, it was still very good and commendable .

This is actually Eurovision worthy piece.
It’s a song-contest and they have studied what would really fit into this competition.
It’s more of “Bangaranga” the song that won this year from Bulgaria.
The sound mix need to be improved and her dance need to be upped.

Carmelle's Sobra Sobra sounds alike Maymay Entrata's Amakabogera because both under one music recording label by ABS CBN's Star Music and I think both similar team create both songs

I get you. Carmelle's time at Tawag ng Tanghalan needs to be "belter". That's how you can win a contest here, people don't give a F if you cannot belt to the point you can see the singer's throat. It may look underwhelming but to compare with the other National Finals for ESCA, this performance is CURRENTLY the best among all.

Haha my mother have the same thought when she watched this performance in YouTube, she said that Carmelle sounds like Maymay lol
