August 2–3, 2026 – Attack on road construction workers in Kali Kabur, Kanggime District, Tolikara. Five people were reported killed, and five others were evacuated.
August 16, 2026 – A civilian identified as AS was shot at the Old Pertamina Complex, Wenam District, Tolikara, and suffered a leg wound.
August 20, 2026 – A group of Ilu Police personnel traveling on the Puncak Jaya-Tolikara main road was attacked from a height near Kuari Bridge, Umage Village, Umage District, Tolikara. One officer suffered a gunshot wound.
This series of events disrupted the smooth flow of transportation and distribution of basic necessities to Puncak Jaya.
As the number of incoming goods vehicles decreased and travel became more risky, the supply of basic necessities was disrupted, leading to an increase in the prices of several essential goods.
