If you do loop in a 3rd member of the GVG crew in future videos like this one (which was great!), I hope Jon stays a permanent staple and is in every one of these. His vast depth of knowledge of every system and franchise are invaluable to these discussions and I'd like for him to see this entire thing through. Plus an additional revolving crew member, sure. But please keep Jon in all of these!

not sure if anyone else has said this, but this format works A Lot better with at least three people imo! it really helps the sorta casual-game-show format to have more than one “contestant”, i think. it’d be cool to see more of em like this if possible!

That top 3 shows how amazing it was that Playstation All Stars Battle Royale got Cloud, Sephiroth, Snake, and Richter on the roster. Truly iconic representatives of the Playstation. Hold on, getting a call... uh huh... they weren't? What am I thinking of? Smash Ultimate? That can't be right....

Xenogears brothers... We clutched up for once 🥶🥶

In regard to Metal Gear, the original MSX2 release did not have Snake lose health with the cigarettes equipped. That was first implemented in the 2004 mobile port. Metal Gear Solid was the first game in the series to do that.

I have strong opinions on this, surely I'll listen to these votes calmly and rationally.

Gran turismo and tomb raider should have been in the top 10. Both extremely iconic

I'm happy that Ape Escape made it into the top 10. For me, that's one of the PS1's crown jewels. I feel like a lot of the things that we have been praising Astro Bot for could be applied to Ape Escape as well. They both feel like fun toys to mess around with, as much as they are great games.

> "The only fighting game that's made a top 10 so far was Virtua Fighter 2"
> "Soul Calibur will definitely make it to the Dreamcast list, maybe even Soul Calibur 2 on Game Cube"
[cries in 2D-Fighter fan] TwT

48:33 As someone who first played Metal Gear Solid in 2018, it absolutely holds up. After I finished it, it immediately became one of my all time favorites and I proceeded to marathon the series.

Regarding Metal Gear Solid, I still think that game is the best use of rumble in the entire medium. It's just used in so many creative ways, even after the iconic Psycho Mantis fight, when Snake checks Meryl's pulse, you can feel her pulse in the rumble.

1:14:10 It's very funny that Jon said that. To put it in perspective, the PS1 poll had 426 games (~10.38% of the library) mentioned over 765 votes. Even if you include the 64DD library, the Nintendo 64 doesn't even have 400 games unless you also include aftermarket releases like 40 Winks. I'm very interested to see what the point spreads look like for the Nintendo 64 list! We honestly might see a game with over 5,000 points given how small the library is.

35:10 The Moguri mod made FF9 even more beautiful. It's insane how beautiful it is. :)

No Dino Crisis on the Top-50 was a bit of a shocker.

The fact that Oddworld only barely made top 50 is genuinely shocking.

Happy over the high SotN placement.

Derek I'd love to see your full data! Are you considering releasing it?

I feel like the guessing game without any sort of idea of what it could possibly be out of 500+ games is moot lol

56:00 There IS a brand fan translation out there which includes a complete re-localization of the script. It's included in the Reunion mod pack for PC, I believe, and it's pretty darn good.
