How Emrakul Saves The Multiverse in Reality Fracture

The Hedron Archive

Following his death in the meditation realm, Jace Beleren is finally enacting his plan to free the multiverse of suffering. He’s woven an Echoverse, a dimension that mirrors the multiverse we know but with some key differences.

There are no Eldrazi.
There is no Nicol Bolas.
There are no Phyrexians.

But as The Theorist pours over the data, looks into the theorems, something is wrong.

What’s more, those he used to call friends are arriving to stop him.

Today, let’s explore the narrative of Reality Fracture, the dire peril this puts the multiverse in, and the stunning conclusion that ties in Emrakul, a character we haven’t seen for over 10 years.

Magic The Gathering's newest set, Reality Fracture, is finally here.
Jace's solution. Everyone's problem.

Thanks to Wizards for choosing The Hedron Archive to be an ambassador for this set.

The fact that one of the parts that was not on board with the Theorist's plans was when he was a fucking Phyrexian is telling

You'll never outrun pain, but maybe if you're lucky you can outrun the town-sized eldritch horror with your uncle suspended in it like a green bean in Mormon Jell-O

The entire echoverse getting devoured by Emrakul is... quite a tragedy?

Damn. I'm sorry for Fblthp who had finally found the way :(

I really mourn for what this set could have been. I adore so many of the concepts and many of moments in the story.
It just all felt so rushed. And the only real lasting consequence being Jace's death.
I seriously think they should have at least kept Hexhaven around. I feel like it'd be thematic for a Plane originally born of two to sort of split once again. Also some of the nuance of teaching the mirror schools how to be people would be cool.

This channel is such a hidden jem, I await all of your uploads! I feel like there's also no one talking about mtg lore in an engaging way that you do!

The way they used Jace's mind-magic to explore identity and self-image was really great. Vraska and Jace both afraid of accepting their darker parts but realizing they are just as much a part of them as anything else, that you shouldn't hide away from yourself, Vraska giving Jace a kind death, a skill she learned from her darkest time. And when Tam got Jace's spark they repeated that she got the aspects of his different selves, a soldier, a detective, a blank slate that can start anew

Just wanted to say this was an excellent video that really captured the epic reality fracture story and the feelings that came with it. Hope you do more of these!

Part of me wonders whether a Jace fragment survived.

There's a non-zero chance that there's other Jaces beyond what was shown, and since Emrakul only ate the Echoverse (and Jace isn't from there), I could imagine a single amnesiac Jace shard waking up somewhere in The Edge. Like some Kingdom Hearts Traverse Town situation.
