Imagine this story, now without loving parents. So many people are in that situation.

I wish everyone got a dad like this

-Whats, ur problem?
-I am an alchoholic and an addict
-No, that's how you been treating your problem

"It is impossible to understand addiction without asking what relief the addict finds, or hopes to find, in the drug or the addictive behaviour." - Gabor Mate

This movie has changed my life. Made me realise what I've made my parents go through and how I've absolutely decimated relationships. After more than 15 years of blackout drinking, I'm finally a recovering alcoholic. Almost a year sober. One day at a time is what I think seems right at the moment. As the late great Mathew Perry used to say, "addiction wants to get you alone and eventually will kill you." Too scared on this journey but there's always hope. Always!

I am going through this with my son. He is 23. He wants to go to rehab. He hates not being able to stay away from it. It has him hooked. Meth is the devil.

Addiction is usually a symptom of a much bigger problem just beneath the surface

When I was in my twenties, I was living in dark times. I was getting drunk every weekend, smoking weed everyday and experimenting new drugs. I was depressed and I didn't want to admit it. I've always been a sensitive person. Maybe too sensitive. I've always been a good person, always ready to listen and take care of others. Then, drugs and alcohol woke up a monster inside me. I was treating my mom bad, telling her terrible things, ignoring her. I was arguing and fighting with my dad who is one of the most honest and beautiful person I've ever known. I was quickly changing. But my parents never gave up. They kept loving me unconditionally even if I was becoming a monster. They still could see that little lovely child inside me. They never forced to do anything but just listen, checking on me, asking me how I was. They were just present. All the time. Now, I'm 30y and I'm a different person. My parents made me who I am today and I'll be forever grateful.

To any addicts out there in Australia like myself. Call an ambulance and tell them you're going through withdrawal. Even if you aren't they have to take you. Hospitals, even public ones will help you detox. I spent a week in hospital and it was completely free. Meals, medication, medical care, etc. All you have to pay for is the medication after you leave the hospital and then get yourself into some programs to keep you steady. To my American brothers and sisters, I feel for you : (

Addiction is just one of the outcomes of a battle lost with depression. That depression doesn’t go away it just goes to the ones who care about you.

One of the best movies ever made in my opinion. It showed addiction without any jugdement, the way a parent can feel towards their child. It reminded me a lot of my mom and I. When you're always there for your child no matter what, sometimes you have to let go for them to understand to get better

A few years ago my cousin overdosed, he was 23. I grew up with him, and while he was quiet, I never suspected he was struggling so badly. He was a gentle soul who didn’t deserve the demons that pointed him to drugs and took his life. Addiction is a SOB.

I knew I couldn't count on anyone else without them judging me and I was already full of sorrow. I was a functional addict, I saved up the money for my rehab and went by myself. Nobody saw me off, nobody welcomed me home. I crawled across fields of broken glass to stop from killing myself and I didn't do it because someone loved me. I did it because I love me and I need me and all you need to heal yourself is to remember that you are beautiful and you are strong and you are the most important being in this universe as long as you are alive. So stay alive.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST PART OF BEING AN ADDICT IS THE CRIPPLING AMOUNT OF REGRET YOU HAVE KNOWING YOU WASTED SO MANY YEARS OF YOUR LIFE! YOU MISSED OUT ON SO MANY SPECIAL MOMENTS AND MEMORIES WITH YOUR FAMILY, FREINDS, ECT! YOU CHOSE DRUGS OVER EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING AND NOW YOU ARE ALL ALONE AND IT'S TOO LATE! 💔😭

11 years - Jan 20th 2014. So grateful to be alive. Heroin/Meth/Alcoholism. Thank you God and AA ❤

This is amazing!

Now imagine all the addicts with parents who didn't care like this, what chance do we have ,with no support base .

I struggled with addiction in my teens and went to rehab in 2010. This movie captures so much accurate emotion and pain that comes from addiction.

This movie truly makes me feel my father’s pain that he went through all those years ago.

If you have an addiction to drugs - please reach out to those who love you. It could save your life.

When I was 16 I went through a rough time and despite treating my parents like a monster, using psychological terror to manipulate. They never gave up on me. Sure they got mad, furious. I swear they really hated me sometimes, but they never, not once gave up on me. Not once. I credit all of my success to my parents. Please, if you're a parent, never give up on your kids. I promise they will love you for it even if it seems like they hate you in the moment.

Thank you for making this and making it available on YT music, I listen to this daily to help with addiction.
