Hello, I am Gemma (owner of Herdwicks) I just wanted to thank everyone so much for all your amazing comments, we don’t try to be fancy or amazing and we do genuinely want people to enjoy coming here. The upsetting part of it all wasn’t the guy giving his opinion or doing a review, it was the comments section (vulgar towards a 17yo member of staff) I was called a dog amongst other things that I don’t want to write, then his followers were putting one star reviews on google, screen shotting them and posting them laughing my phone was literally pinging every 5 mins with the reviews coming through and it was devastating. Thankfully the fake ones have been removed. I absolutely love our little cafe, we meet lovely people every day and I totally agree that we sometimes get things wrong but I and my team will bend over backwards to put anything we have done wrong  right, we can’t please everyone although we try our hardest too.
I never expected this to blow up like it has at the time, I put the emotional video on Herdwicks face book wall to ask genuine customers for reviews to counteract the fake negative ones. I’ve not once asked for fake reviews. I know some people have said my video was fake but I promise you it wasn’t a lot more was going on personally that I am happy to divulge if people want to know and this tipped me over the edge.
Again I want to thank everyone for all your kind messages emails and reviews and to thank Gary for giving is a chance.
I’ve spoken to lots of people and made some really good friends over the years of owning the cafe especially our 4 legged friends who we adore.
Have a great evening everyone, thanks again, Gemma and team xx

Social media is a cesspit containing the very worst of humanity.

I'm afraid social media has revealed that a percentage of society is narcissistic , cruel, and vindictive. Little people with little minds.

I read elsewhere that said muppet has now been banned from tik tok. Hope so!
Well done for supporting them and for giving an HONEST review, Gary.

You're a good man, Gary. Fair, honest, and sticking up for the little guys doing honest work.

People leaving bad reviews for places they've not visited because their favourite tiktoker doesnt like.  How sad, what utter mindless sheep.

Gary, you are an island of fair-mindedness in a sea of idiots. Respect to you.

The toxic part of social media is that it gives a platform to some people who really shouldn't be listened to. Well done for bringing some much needed balance, Gary. Hospitality is a brutal sector. Keep going Gemma.

Thanks for doing this review Gary, the owner seems like a hard working good person 💖

You're angry because you're a decent guy and that's why we love you.

As far as I'm concerned, if someone's "job" is "Tiktoker", they've as good as admitted that they're not worth bothering with. Trying to destroy a business is disgusting behaviour, particularly when it's easy to see through the camera that it's a great, clean place selling good food at reasonable prices. You can spend £10 on worse food easily, or you can visit somewhere nice like this and get a much nicer meal. That cake looked delicious too. Support independent businesses, and especially those that also support their local suppliers!

THankfully looks like those fake reviews have been removed, and a flood of positive ones, you did a good thing Gary!

Lady Gaga once said "Social media is the toilet of the Internet". I cannot agree with her more! This is beyond reprehensible. Your anger is totally justified, Gary! Thank you for taking a stand & thank you for sharing.

2:18 Poor woman, I really feel for her. Trolls are vicious and dangerous, once the ball starts rolling it's hard to contain. I hope the creep who did this is removed from public platforms

£13 for a breakfast in that location and using local produce, that's actually a reasonable price.

I’m a cafe owner and this boils my blood. People are horrible. I’ve had similar things with people leaving reviews that have never even visited us.
And let me tell you we work so hard and make NOTHING as far as profit goes.

All it does is make me want to visit even more. Trolls getting the opposite of what they want

I completely understand if this comment gets deleted gary, but it was edobbin and I think the people deserve to know this bully.

I went to this cafe last September on my weekend getaway to Coniston. Had tea and cake with my Mrs and had a pleasant comfortable rest in a beautiful part of this country. It’s a gem of a place to eat and relax and will be visiting again this year.

Well done Gary. You’re a class act . Hope the owner can feel the love .
