In the book Cadia Stands the guardsmen who had no way to evacuate were still fighting the legions of Chaos as their home planet broke apart beneath their feet, evac ships seeing the flashes of lasguns and artillery as the crust of the planet was breaking up. Which is where the saying "the planet broke before the guard" come from.

CADIA STANDS

FOR THE EMPEROR

The planet broke before the guard did CADIA STANDS!!!!

Trazyn: you Cadians have a big set of steel balls on you almost like mine

Also Trazyn: Alright, you’re coming with me, Creed…

Trazyn had such a badass moment because he truly somewhat respect and emphatize the humans in this battle.

Trazyn snapped his fingers, and Huntmaster stepped out of the air, bowing low to present Trazyn with his empathic obliterator. "They need a saviour," Trazyn said, taking the weapon and igniting its headpiece with a crackle of etheric energy. "And until their God-Emperor rises, I will have to suffice."

Trazyn is my favourite character in the entire setting. Just doing whatever he wants when he wants.

Barely started the video but CADIA BROKE BEFORE THE GUARD DID. CADIA STANDS!

Cadia was so well fortified and so fervently defended by its people that the only way for Abaddon the crybaby to finally win was to rage quit and crash an irreplaceable super weapon to physically destroy the entire planet. Even then the Guardsmen kept fighting as the planet cracked beneath their feet to the very last man. The only planet at that point in time more fortified and more fervently defended by the Imperium was Terra itself.

The planet broke before the Guard!
While Cadia was breaking into pieces after getting hammered  by the Blackstone Fortress regulate Guardsmen where still fighting against the forces of Chaos as their world shattered around them. Truly, the planet broke before the Guard.

The Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 prologue cinematic is an excellent visual representation of the Fall of Cadia

9:42 Wait until you hear about this character. Trazyn the Infinite is going to steal your stuff.

This is paraphrased from an actual exchange he had with another Necron:

"I hope you have an army in [your dimensional pockets.]"
"Sir. What do you take me for? I have five!"

KrakDuk Fall of Reatia

Cadia Chaos REAT Lets Goooo! Hopin yall are havin a great day!💜

doorway of REAT :face-blue-smiling:

"Why'd you have to word it like that?"
Well, technically the term for the explosive parts of missiles/bombs/torpedoes is a payload, so there's that. And The Phalanx ended up needing to unleash EVERYTHING it had because of how technologically superior the Eldar Warship was. So it blew its load all across it.

The planet broke before the REAT did. CADIA STANDS!

Trazyn, aka "Mr. Steal Yo Girl", is kinda a badass and asshole, and he was really the one who got me into Necrons
Mind I recommend Infinite and the Divine as the first book?
*edit: Perhaps after watching Bricky's Part 2 video and others? Dont want to be too confused when reading

everything I learn about Trazyn just further convinces me that he is my spirit animal

CADIA SHALL REAT □□
