The phrase "The Planet Broke Before The Gaurd Did" isn't just metaphorical. When the Planet broke a part on certain parts, there were still cadians shooting at the enemy, so it's also literal too

Now you know why Bricky, along with a million of us break into tears daily.

Cadia stands.

Abbadon the ragequitter finally got lucky at his 13th attempt

One of the funny gags of Cadia is in the game of WH40K Darktide, on the caracters bio show the home planet of them, but in the case of the cadians caracters only show a bunch of space rocks, "Cadia" LMAO!

Trazyn using his limited edition Heresy Era Ultramarines collection on this battle just shows how he really meant business

Cadia stands! The planet broke before guard did!

Fun sidenote. The reason why Abbadon loses his arms in the animation is a reference to the old metal model of him. It was near impossible to keep the arms attached to the model, which lead to Abbadon of that era getting the nickname: Abaddon the armless! 😂😂😂

2 things, abbadon isn't a primarch he was one of horus's 'sons', and gilliman was basically suspended animation and coma, so when he came back it was big

The Eye is a hole in the real world that leads into the warp. It came to be when Slaneesh was born

Edit: nvm chat already said it

So I’ll try and give some explanation for some things.
The Eye of Terror was basically a big doorway in space to the Warp that you could use to just fly into and out of the Warp. It was supposedly created when Slaanesh was born. Some even say it was the center of the Aeldari empire and the exact center of The Eye was where the final act of debauchery took place that was needed for Slaanesh to be birthed.

The Cadia system was the only area that was able to be exited out of the Eye safely as everywhere else the warp storms would tear ships apart. Demons by themselves didn’t have the ability to travel through space itself so it wasn’t very important until after the Horus Heresy when the traitor forces used it to flee into the warp. This included Abaddon who was Horus’ #1 guy and is his successor. He’s currently basically the big bad of 40k right now. After they made it into the Warp through the Eye and set up shop (the planets that were where the Eye is got sucked into the Warp and still exist) they could come back through with demon armies. It became a huge problem.

The Imperium decided to fortify it to make it nearly impossible to use the exit from the Eye and the system became known as the Cadian system with the capital planet becoming the most fortified and  named Cadia. For nearly 10,000 years they threw back countless invasions.

As we saw in the video it was even more important than they thought because it was holding back the Eye from expanding and swallowing up a huge chunk of the galaxy.

My favorite side note from this whole thing is that as the evacuating guardsmen we’re flying up to spaceships they could still see out of the windows of the transports the thousands of flashes of Lasgun fire from the soldiers still on the broken up chunks of the planet as they shattered into asteroids and swallowed by the Warp. They fought even as the literal ground they were standing on disintegrated beneath their feet. That’s why they say the planet broke before the guard did.

It’s poetic in a way. Now I wouldn’t want to die like that but it’s a badass way to go out and be remembered. It’s basically the 40k version of The Alamo. Except not everyone defending died so in a way not as bad lol.

I'm guessing Cadia had the lowest crime rate of any Imperial world before it fell

She's forgetting that the harlequins are also Eldar

Literally I think explaining the Fall of Cadia as the 40k 9/11 event would bridge the gap of so many peoples understanding of why it's both normal and healthy for a 40k fan to breakdown in tears at the mention of Cadia. CADIA STANDS! (For more info on that there's a Warhammer+ show for 40k with an episode called 'Cadia Stands'. TL;DR "Against all odds, no hope in sight, and with causalities beyond count, did the Cadian Major say the line would hold?" "Yes, General, Cadia Stands!")

@19:01 It's less "9/11" and more the "Fall of France in WW2." It didnt just end with a loss of men, equipment, and geneseed, but a great bastion is gone as well. Since then Abbadon's been expanding outwards, creating terror ships known as "Arks of Omen," the Eye of Terror has spread such that there is now an entire area of the galaxy that is cut off. This "Imperium Nihilus" is so chaotic and out of control we dont even know how much is still under control or has fallen. The Tyranid Hivemind has lost connection with a lot of hivefleets there.

CADIA FOREVER STANDS!

The planet literally gave up before for guardsmen fighting on it did. I don't know about you but thats cool as hell.

As a TLDR in regards to the “Eye of Terror” it was made because the Aeldari (space elves) partied a bit to hard, got smidge overly hedonistic, and accidentally gave birth to Slannesh one of the big 4 chaos gods. The birth of the Prince of Pleasure CREATED the Eye of Terror. A massive warpstorm that made warp travel more complicated and dangerous, allowing more demons to breach the material world, and is basically an open wound in space that is a fast way to enter the warp and never leave.

Oh boy, thanks Hatty 🧙‍♂️

8:27 Chaos Corruption.
Chaos corruptions is no joke.

6:17 One of his sons. Horus's son, specifically. He took over after his dad got ninja vanished by the emperor.
