It’s time to give the Mercedes R129 SL500 the audio system it deserves!
For this build, Raj wanted to keep things in keeping with the era while recreating some of that proper old-school car audio nostalgia.
We upgrade the speakers throughout the SL500, add sound deadening to improve the acoustics and build a completely custom subwoofer enclosure in the rear seat area, just like we used to do back in the day!
But there's one thing he done differently with the equaliser. We’ve come up with a very special location for it in the dash, and in the video Raj shows you exactly how it works, including the different visualiser displays!
Of course, an install like this needs a proper sound test. With the R129 being a convertible, Raj wanted to see just how much difference the roof actually makes, so we test the system first with the roof down and then again with the soft top closed.
Can you really hear the difference? You might be surprised!
