I'm comparing Cayennes and Range Rovers—yes, I am a masochist. That said, this is the best video I've seen on the Cayenne so far. Thank you for highlighting the genuinely important differences across generations. I dislike videos that only cover one generation in detail and then move on to the next. 🤘🏽

The 4.2 V8 Diesel is a superb car. Owned mine for 3 years. Serviced annually and it’s not been a problem. Over 120k miles and still drives like a dream. If you want something that eats up motorway miles in comfort, this model is hard to beat.

Absolutely love my 4.8 turbo s , drives like a dream and never fails to make me smile 😃

Had a 4.2 for the past couple of years, been epic, brilliant car.

Thanks for the mention at 1:11 😃 I'd recommend getting a borescope and having a look beneath the intake manifold of your recent purchase, just to confirm it's not already an issue.
As yours is lower miles (mine is 135k), you've probably got a while before the inevitable happens. Still inevitable with these 3.0 TDIs thanks to their plastic parts in the engine valley though sadly..

My transfer case went on my Macan 2015 3.0 s originally - 7year warranty, mine was 3 months out so Porsche wanted nearly 2k for a new one, but found an independent  Porsche dealer in Brackley who fitted one all In about £1200.
My transfer case worked as it should when cold but when it got to running temp it would skip when reverse gear was engaged especially on a gradient, oh and the coolant leak I’ve had for over a year I just top it up every 3-4 weeks and I drive from Oxford to Pembrokeshire quite frequently and no issues, one last issue is suspension arms and bushes being a heavy car they take a pounding mines done 130,000 miles and still drives lovely..

I have a 2012 Diesel 3V6 utterly brilliant ... make sure your hoses are replaced and keep an eye on alterantor belt and tensioner .. keys are to keep fluids changed and watch for oil leaks .. these are ussually liveable with .. just make sure levels are topped up .. absolute bargain in thses days and a lot of character

Love your videos, very informative and easy to understand for the non-mechanic.

Thanks for sharing 🙏🏾😊

Great vid, really informative. Have you/can you do one for the first gen?

Porsche change the transfer boxes under warranty. 10 years extended for the knocking

Great video, thanks.

Hey, I've got a 2004 1st Gen Cayenne twin turbo V8 4.5L. I haven't had any major issues, just basic upkeep. If you look after your Cayenne, do the basic servicing, and make sure your oil level is topped up - it's been a reliable and equally enjoyable car to drive and enjoy.

the first half of the brake pedal on the hybrid doesn’t engage the brakes it does regen on the gearbox so it takes some getting used to in-fact if you just only half press it won’t stop at all you have to push it hard to engage brakes and if feels odd at first . Little known fact every single Porsche ever sold can stop from 60mph in less time than it can get to 60 a gem mentioned on the Porsche experience at silver stone more than once lol

I have owned the 4.2d for 7 years. Transfer case fixed under warranty, Gearbox went at 78000 miles. Got a brand new one fitted, dpf problem then appeared which turned out to be a sensor in a really awkward place to replace. I get it serviced on time.  Apart from that the car drives like a dream and can get over 40 mpg on the motorway, Also had it remapped and now has 1000 nm torgue and 430 bhp. You can tow anything with it. Another thing you really should get done is the tracking and make sure you go to someone who knows what they are doing to stop it pulling to one side and wearing your tyres out too early. The porsche main dealers couldn't fix this.

The Brera in the background.... Yum!

Can you do a video on the newer Cayenne?

I was thinking of changing next year to buy a Porsche cayenne

I know this may seem intuitive, But I would like you to give actual motor sounds to diagnose issues.

I’ve owned Porsches since 2010. Never had a major problem with any of them until I bought a new Cayenne Turbo 2021 brand new from dealer. It was a shit show from day one. Went through 3 turbos, water pump failed sucking coolant through engine, full rebuild…….5 exhaust valves failed. Countless engine management lights………….just a disaster. We replaced it with a GLS600 Maybach……not had a single issue in 12k miles.
