I've finally gotten around to testing craft paints on my warhammer models. Are craftsmart, folkart, or apple barrel up to the task of painting squigs? This video is part of a group collaboration, so I'm also attempting to paint these squigs using only 3 colors- wish me luck!

He used his“goofy face” for the thumbnail

After years of commissioning others to paint my armies, I've picked up a whole new army to paint 100% on my own (AoS Ogres btw), all because of your channel. Painted the first model just a couple of night ago. You're inspiring a lot of people out here, and we can't thank you enough.

"They are not masterpieces" Bro... You gave those masterpiece models a fantastic paintjob, with craft paints! They fit the models perfectly

I think you ended up with a very retro result, the color selections and the slight chalkiness of the finish remind me of old 80s Warhammer paintjobs, back when GW's inhouse style was a lot more chaotic and earth-toney (in the 90s they got more uniform and brightly colored).

Haha, you scared me for a bit there, I thought you'd paint two Looncurse boxes with craft paints...

You know it’s going to be fun when Brent lets his hair down

Your Dark Eldar go through so much. I can imagine Slaanesh claiming the souls of a squad of Dark Eldar, and then spending eternity painting them different colors.

Good to see Ginger had his eyes in on what you were attempting as he/she is a lovable cat. Cheers Brent.

"Better than Army Painter paints."

Did anyone else double-check the thumbnail in the middle of the video. I needed the meta knowledge.

Now i want to see a comparison between this and the ikea paints :D

Wake up, all dizzy and disoriented. Get some coffee, check the computer what's happening today. A snowstorm has hit Sweden huh... Brent from Goobertown released his Squig video! 11 minutes later I have to say that this was very nice way to wake up! :D

Also, I love that you also tested craft paints! The result is quite nice man! I love the old school models! Good job as always! 🤘

My 3 year old daughter painted one of my miniatures with craft paint. It was a chalky mess of colour, with no details. The fact you manged to keep the squiggs looking like squiggs is impressive and making them look good is even more impressive. 👍👍👍

Short. I love LONG goobertown video's the longer the better in my opinion.

I would happily play against an army fully painted like this. Seriously amazing work!

@PackmasterJack 6 years ago

I've never used anything else but craft-paint due to local availability. Requires proper thinning but (insofar as anything my shaky hands produce looks 'good') I've had decent results.

I don’t even paint models, why am I watching this? Entertained me anyway

So as someone who used to use to craft paints many moons ago when I got back into miniature painting, I can tell you that the bad rep is mostly undeserved; they're definitely not the best choice, but if you're on a budget you can make them work and there's usually a staggering option of different colors. One of the biggest cons in my opinion is that you don't usually get very bright, saturated tones but if your painting style favors darker, de-saturated tones then you can make it work.
