The fact they kill Gustave like 12 hours into the game is still blowing my mind and I am near the end of act 2. I can't believe they did that it's so ballsy of a move I respect them so much for it. I've seen characters you think are main characters killed early in stories and games, not that late into it. Absolute chads. It also took me awhile to realize "no that actually happened".

"Gustav is like the main character, he's not going to die"

That line of thinking is exactly why they killed him, to instill in the player a sense of loss.

you see, this game is turn based
Player: uses attacks and skills
Game: uses emotional damage

As a bit of comedy: I love how Sciel says, "I hate water."  And then, the one who can LITERALLY FLOAT attempts to give her encouragement by going first.  It's like Superman telling me I can hold up a building. 😆

Played video games since 89, but this game hits different

The game is about grieving , killing Gustave was the invitation the dev made to make us think about grieving ...

"When one falls, we continue"

Painspedition

I want a big french tellytubby to hug me 😭

Eight months later... I'm wondering, did you finish the game?  I don't see any other videos after this in your playlist?  I know I had a moment after Act I trying to decide whether to throw in the towel.  I decided to listen to Lune: "When one falls, we continue."  I'm glad I did.

I need more games from sandfall studios....preferebly now!

Does that old man have a stealth mode, how did they not hear that cane echoing?

Well Done

Since it's your first playthrough and you're confused; take it from me as someone who's cleared the game 3 times - you're supposed to be 👍

The ending of Act 1 shocked me Big time.

I know everyone was probably on a good dose of copium and hoped Gustave wasn't actually dead and would get up after some treatment. But that would have honestly kinda ruined the game. This world is dark and the continent is dangerous. A ton of people died in the Prologue, if Gustave had gotten up even after two holes big enough to put an arm through in his chest. It would have removed the high stakes and the feeling of death lurking on every corner. I love Gustave and i dislike how dirty he was done but the devs were bold enough to kill an important character and i think they pulled it off because it made the story that much more intriguing. Besides verso is very cool too he's not a Gustave replacement but he's cool too.
