I bought this amazing 154 song album and it came with a free game how cool!

I'm 42 years old, I've been playing games since I was a kid, and this is one of the best games I've ever played.

3:50 "This is in a video game?" Yes and it's only the starting screen 😅

Lorien Testard deserves to be immortalized as one of the best of his trade, absolutely incredible, even more when this is his first professional work. What an artist...

this game is such a win for art, through and through

4:11 An advantage... For those who react after.  🥖

Bro said,” this is in a video game?” He’s one of us lol

I'm a pianist and a composer. It's virtually impossible to put so much authentic grief and intimacy into music without being in deep pain and grief. I've known so many players who achieved technical perfection, but were living happy and privileged lives and their attempts at composing were devoid of intimacy and emotion, almost robotic. The grief and pain in Lorien's music is absolutely authentic. Sandfall is the most depressed game development studio out there right now, that i can promise

This game’s prologue is quite possibly the best thing to hit the game industry in the last decade

Must be a whimsical place in the game!
meanwhile, the lyrics: "I cried and cried, oh i was in too much pain, i sat with his soul"
haha please play this game! Masterpiece all around!

The term "clair obscur" is used for a painting where contrast is important to bring out the subject of the canvas. Rembrandt, Le Caravage and Goya are geniuses at this art.
I'm French and I was studying at an art school in the early 90s.

1:48 you are correct. That's Lorien Testard, found by the game development team on a random, nische, french Video game forum where he posted a demo some time ago. Not a known composer at all and then he BANGS out this!

What makes this video even better is the fact that you almost look like Renoir

This game was a perfect storm: a small team of 30 developers, most of whom had never actually worked on game development properly. The composer was found on soundcloud, the lead writer auditioned for a voice acting role on Reddit before transitioning to writer, the CEO and creative director was a former Ubisoft (big AAA game studio) developer who was bored at his job.

Everything just came together to create one of the most generational games of all time.

Pretty good for a simple guitar teacher who has never composed anything before. He just uploaded a few songs on SoundCloud and the game director randomly found him and asked him to work for them. Over 150 songs later with songs in multiple languages and multiple styles he made a true masterpiece. He deserves every award he has already got.

just so you know, clair obscur is part of the name of the game, but it is also the french translation of an artistic concept in painting where you accentuate dark and light contrasts. the whole game is very artistic and many characters are actually painters, this high contrast between light and darkness is very present in the visuals and the theme of the game.

There is a 4 hour video here on YT with all the game's cinematics. If you are not a gamer but want to experience the story, it is worth the watch.

I must have played hundreds of game in my life so far and today I can confidently say that Clair Obscur is my all-time favorite.

"this must be a fun whimsical place in the game" while describing a song that plays in the most heartbreaking moment in the game was wild to hear
