A couple with Down syndrome gets engaged. After their parents met when they were babies, they finally started dating in high school and recently got engaged. They moved into a new condo and will get married soon. Watch this sweet story to learn more about Matthew and Lucia.

We are on a mission to produce 24 documentaries this year to celebrate the voices of the Down syndrome and disability communities. Our goal is to raise $125,000 to keep these stories free and accessible to the world.

Since this video focuses on Matthew, I'll comment on him. Not many of us know the contentment that he knows. He's happy in his own skin and lhe loves his life! He strives to be a productive member of his community and he gives back to that community.He loves and respects his family and his lady with his whole being. He gives everything that he does a 110%. Nobody should "feel bad" for Matthew...he should feel bad for us! 😊❤

I used to work with a pediatrician that always gushed about his patients with DS. He told me they are a gift to humanity. I think they are Earthly Angels.

Made me tear up when Matthews mum said he was never invited to kids parties after the 1st grade. Matthew is so sweet and so articulate, what a beautiful soul he is and what a beautiful story this was! Thank you for sharing ❤

It broke my heart when his mum said he wasn’t invited to any birthday parties after 1st grade. That’s a failure of those other parents to teach their children inclusion and acceptance.

How did they not notice or care that Matthew was never at these parties?!

I respect mom for expressing her concerns and feelings when she found out. Any parent would be devastated finding out their child was going to have mental challenges and disabilities. But I know she realizes how truly blessed she really is. Both of them are so special and truly amazing.
