Dimmu back in days went HARD ASF. Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia was absolute gold.

Nick's drumming on “Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia” is among the best and most inventive the extreme metal scene has to offer. It's absolutely insane.

Nick drummed on the two peak Dimmu Borgir albums. Legend.

One of, if not, the best drummers Dimmu ever had grace the kit.

Brutal, technical and precise. The entirety of Death Cult Armageddon is a masterclass that never fails to blow me away from a drumming standpoint.

This question has been on back of my mind for the last 20 years or so, finally now I know straight from the man himself! Big thanks for doing the interview with one of my all times favorite drummer, Mr. Barker. Peace \m/

He is one of my top two favorite drummers of all time. He competes with a dude named Alfonso André from Caifanes. (Totally different genre). I've saw him play with cradle and with dimmu when he first got with them in the spiritual black dimensions tour. A fucking beast!

I was fortunate to meet Nick backstage at Wacken 2001 - he was there with Dimmu, and my band (Sacraphyx from South Africa) had been given a wild-card spot to play at the festival, and Nick was super cool and accommodating to us total nobodies. He partied hard with Flo from Cryptopsy that evening, and it was mind-blowing to get to watch those two blast masters tear shit up from behind the drum riser in front of more than eighty thousand people! 🍻🔥🤘

Yeah, I have heard Nick say that before that Shagrath kind of limited the inputs from Nick’s side and he [Shagrath] didn’t like the Puritanical album at all. But hats off to Mr. Barker for creating the best drum parts for Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir. Such a legend! May he recover soon! 🙏

I understand Nick as I myself did music with people from abroad and as I do speak french myself, everywhere I ever went people were speaking another language. Yet, you can't blame a norwegian band speaking in norwegian among themselves, especially when you know it beforehand.

Best dimmu albums were with Nick

Death cult Armageddon one of the greatest achievements musically out of any genre. All of you can be very proud of that album!

Astennu also spoke about Nick having very strong ideas about his drumparts and that they clashed often. Truth be told, from what I have gathered since the reunion of the Covenant, Astennu also is quite a hardheaded fella...
Plus, he was kind of the middle person between Nick and the rest of Dimmu so I understand that when he was gone, they had to deal with Nick themselves.
