Painting White on White: a still life in oils

How I paint whites: I paint an alla prima still life, of a mug and some tissue. Painted from life, in natural light. I begin with a quick sketch to show my initial idea, and then I work through a painting, showing how I see and mix subtle shades of white, work in a small tonal range, and think about value and edges.
