There have been lots of videos on YouTube about Fujifilm cameras and the quality of the autofocus functions - much of it negative.
In this video I'll be giving you the opinion of a long time Fujifilm user with a history that goes back to the first release of the X-E1 - me.

My default is I use continuous focus with a tiny square. Also, I have a function button that toggles face detect on and off. Face detect works great if I have a single person in the frame. But often I have multiple faces in frame, in which case I toggle face detect off and shoot “old school” autofocus using a very small focus square.
I’m sure Sony, Canon, and Nikon have better autofocus tracking, but Fuji’s autofocus works well enough. I much prefer Fuji’s color science and user experience. I’ve gotten used to its minor autofocus idiosyncrasies, and I don’t find it to be a major problem. I think the problem is overblown on the internet, especially with Fuji’s newer camera models.
