This video overlooks mechanical quality. Lens threads, apertures and other parts may break, or wear out faster in some brands than in others. If you are shooting in a remote area, or at a wedding there may be no replacing the moments. Reliability and durability can be as important as optical quality.

A good reminder. Shame it was Ai though. A lot of the lenses didn't match the Ai voice over

At 1 35, that notebook page looks like one from E. Leitz.

I bought a TT Artisans-M 50 mm f/1.4 about 4 or 5 years ago and sold it two months later due to poor performance.  I subsequently purchased two different versions of Leica’s Summilux 50 mm f/1.4 (one M mount and one Leica Thread mount).  They rendered much better than the TT Artisans version, and they can indeed be serviced by Leica.

I hate AI.  It's always a conglomeration consisting of Truth and Urban Myth.

Great video!!!
Imagine applying cumulative binomial probability to the Noctilux vs. TTArtisan comparison.

If p is the probability of getting a sharp, centered copy, the probability of landing at least one good lens in n attempts is:

P(at least 1 good copy) = 1 - (1 - p)^n

Assuming an atrocious factory pass rate where only 1 in 5 lenses is actually good (p = 0.2), testing up to n = 21 attempts gives:

P(good copy) = 1 - (1 - 0.2)^21 ≈ 99.08%

At $700 a pop, you are mathematically guaranteed a winner long before hitting 21 tries ($14,400). Spending 21x upfront implies assuming a failure rate near 100%. Unless they're shipping broken glass 95% of the time, the stats say buy cheap, test wide open against a wall, and let the return window be your QC department!

( :  Disclaimer: All this mathematical virtuosity is due to the vast mind of GEMINI. :  )

the mark and intention of the lens are related. a lens has a personality and you cast your lenses like a play director for the role they're to fulfill.

Unwatchable due to extensive ads that run for minutes.

AI slop.  Horrible simplification and inaccuracies to make the arguments.  It also makes the assumption that everyone wants and values the same thing

I hate AI slop chanels. There should be a way to report them.

Sure, it's an AI production (bad). Sure it repeats facts too many times (not super awful bad, but still bad). But it boils down to what one can afford. Many of these cheap Chine knockoffs are pretty darn good and are loaded with character (flaws). Older lenses also exhibit flaws and still demand a high price.
Zenography You Tube channel covers these cheap lenses, and old East German/Russian lenses a lot, and they are cheap.
People who want to experiment with these old lenses on their digital camera need only an adapter. The cheap Chinese lenses are not that bad, some rather good. Best part is that your don't have to mortgage your home, sell your first born, give up a kidney to afford one of these designs.
Now that a lot of newly made lenses, copies of the ancient lenses, are cheap, we can afford them and have a ton of fun.
And these Chinese companies are getting better all the time. TT Artisan and 7Artisans just keep pumping out lenses and getting better all the time.

No point responding to an AI robot, but I'm hoping at least a few viewers are 'actual' humans.

We'd all rather have name brand items, the question is 'How much is that name actually worth?' Certainly it's not worth $14,400 ... that's for sure. And don't give me this crap about it's value in 20 years. I'll be in my 90's by then so, WAY beyond caring. If Leicas were 1.5 to 3 times the price, for sure I'd buy them. But 20 times? Nope ... that's just pure GREED and anyone with a lick of sense knows it. And by the way, I've see tests for the Noctilux, and it definitely has issues wide open. Even at this obscene price, it is far from perfect.
