Kern I totaled my 340i😭😭 I don’t think I’ll be able to get another any time soon so just want to say thank you for helping me build and enjoy my car. You are and always will be the bmw goat. I’ll keep supporting your channel till I’m physically unable to❤

Thank you! I did this on the X5 and my tip for removing the fill plug would be to also remove the plastic cover that wraps around the suspension there (only 5 screws) to allow for more room and then use a regular hex socket. The trick is to put the socket into the fill plug first then connect the right length extension to it and the ratchet. This will give you enough room to work the wrench and easy to crack open the plug. Cheers!

9:00 Gold 😂 . I Laughed hard on that :D

You are a DIYers dream bro!! Thank you for the videos

'Tighten it and move on.' 😅👣

Man im watching these vidoes coz thinking of buying a bmw probably an x5. i currently have a pathfinder 2014 cvt front wheel drive only with 524000 kms and never had issue, the key is to change oil regularly on transmissions whether ATF or CVT, and no oil will live past 30,000 kms or 40,000 kms, it will not be dirty but you won't have the protections and additives in it

I also have an AWD Q50 2014 sport, with 262,000 kms on it, with the same as X5, two diffs and transfer case and ATF trans 7 speed. I use valvoline ATF maxlife red which is compatible with X5 and the diffs i use valvoline gear oil etc. And i replace every 30,000 kms to 35,000 kms maximum, drain and refill. No issues whatsoever so far.

IF you read the ZF data on these transmissions bmw X5 they actually tell you that if you drift or race with these things the oil is good for only five thousand kms. So that 80,000 kms thing you can throw out of the window. Your X5 or X7 trans and diffs wont last to half a million km if you keep changing it every 100,000 kms! Won't last to 200,000 kms probably because we all know every bmw driver goes hard on his car.

I would strictly avoid opening pans and just do 30,000 kms drain and refills on  these: measure what comes out and fill back same quantity. End of story. That's what i've been doing so far and never used scanner or any, although i own a launch bidirectional scanner.

The only thing i would use the scanner for is to alert the CVT TCM that the fluid is refreshed, you can zero the fluid detrioeration and you can do a TCM relearn if you want. So the question is: if you put fresh fluid in, are you doing some calibration to your x5 or x7 TCM and x drive system? IF not, then the trans and diff and transfer case are running harder without knowing new fluids are in? I watched many videos but no one does anything which i think is a mistake and needs to be checked

@9:00 guten tight German torque

Need u to speak to more x3m40i content with differential services and transfer case and all that just more c3 content.

I just did my x3m it was a pain but I didn’t need to remove tire. That tool is great!  My capacity is something like 700ml but I filled till it started to come out which I found out later is too much 😕. Hopefully not a problem, seems like a lot of people do that with no issues. Thanks 🙏

Great videos Kern.  Keep making them .  Some of the best on YouTube

Great video! Thank you so much for your information.

Keep em’ coming

Great video and explanation

Great video!! That drain plug tool is NLA….. I need one

Thank you so much for these informative videos! Could you please make a video on how to replace the air suspension on an X7 yourself? I've searched everywhere but haven't found a single video about it yet.

8:40😂😂😂😂😂
ay yo, love your videos on the x7.
I'm in the market for a 2020-21 x7 and your videos are giving me the confidence in buying one.
Will you eventually be making a video on replacing the brakes?
I called a couple indy bmw specialist shops and they quoted me $1000 per axle. I was just trying to get an idea of what to expect on ownership costs for this vehicle.

Front diff fluid in my X7 was nasty at 25k miles.  I just did another change at ~40k miles and it was darker than I thought it would be.  The front diff gets screaming hot.  It took an hour to cool down enough to touch it after driving it to a friend's place (he has a lift).  Rear diff and transfer case were warm, but not thermonuclear hot.  I think since you tow you would want to do these services at 30k miles max.

Yeah, torquing on different materials can drastic different levels on there holds before stripping material.. but.. also, to your point 😅😂

lmfao at 9:00 lolol
