Phil was very proud to be Irish and he never let you forget it. He loved the Irish mythology and it's culture. He was an Irish poet who played bass. He's gone but certainly not forgotten.
I want to thank those that made this video. As a young black guy growing up in England Thin lizzy made me proud they got me into rock music boys are back in town came out when I started secondary school . we used to sing it on the bus. I thought it would change England and people's feelings about other races . it is really sad how it ended
As a 35 year old guy from the states, their music was made before I was born and far away from where I was born and it still found its way into my heart. That’s the proof of how amazing of a band they were . Rest easy Phil
I was walking around Dublin town in April, looking for a pub called McDaids in Harry street, and walked right into Phil Lynott's statue! I'm a fan from Johannesburg, South Africa.
The image that sticks in my head of Phil is: I was spending the night over a friend's house and saw an album cover with him on his knees during a live performance --this was way before I'd picked up an instrument...and that photo said it all for me. I consider them one of the best of all time. I picture Phil's spirit visiting the statue at night when no one's around...if I could just get into this craft and come back. I also pictured Gary Moore on the other side saying to himself, "Man oh man, I gotta find Phil and have him show me around..."
Saw TL in Sydney 1981, Chinatown tour. Now if you want a guitar band, they were it. They didn't sell out and change their sound and become pop. Still listen to their stuff today, and it hasn't lost it's shine even after so many years. If you want to play rock guitar, this is the band that will guide you in the right direction and you will never look back. Amazingly no one has come close to Thin Lizzy's success. Goes to show if you try hard enough you can succeed and live the dream. RIP Phil.
It was nice to see Midge Ure featured, and coming across so modest, and he cleared up a somewhat mystery that I could never quite believe, even though I knew it to be true.
The Greatest Rock Band that ever was and will ever be! Here it is 2019, and Thin Lizzy Lives on in hearts, minds and souls of fans all around the World!
