The World's Greatest Art Thief is STILL alive

Christopher West Presents

Stephane Breitwieser has been called the biggest art thief since World War II. And he did this all while living with his mom. He still lives in France - so I think we should talk about it.

The real story here is with Anne Catharine! She’s the real mastermind

Stephane didn't recently rent a ladder truck and glass cutting saw, did he?

It's an utterly horrific story. Art theft, especially from museums, is a terrible crime. Granted, there are far worse sins to commit, but the fact that these works were stolen from the public and then potentially destroyed makes my blood boil.
I'm currently reading the Finkel book now. It's a great read!

This story is so bizarre and horrifying. When you got to the stream - I'm pretty sure my mouth fell open. His mother's actions provide another small window into the man's character. And a clue to what might have destroyed the boy's childhood - did the mother damage one of her husband's valuable treasures? I hope she was lying about the bonfire, but she sounds like a nutjob. Sickening! I will have to read the book. Great video!

why do Youtubers think that having noise (music?) behind their narrators is good? Music is for when they pause. I think of it as static interference when it competes with the speaker.

I remember hearing about this case and I thought it was cool you did a video of it. I kinda feel bad that this video didn’t get as many viewers as it deserves, because the case is really a work of art in itself 🥁

Very good video.

I have a hunch that some of that art will show up in 20+ years from now. But who really knows.

I just finished "The Art Thief" which brought me to this channel. I thank-you very much.

That was both fascinating and horrible. All that irreplaceable history, those one of a kind works of art gone, bc of three, entitled self-absorbed, criminals.. bc they were all culpable.

Thank you for telling it!

Thanks for the captivating video on an intriguing topic. A breath of fresh air to have a well narrated video—not some AI-produced (with weird images and mispronunciations) or wannabe influencer trying to insert corny anecdotes to serious subjects!

I have no stake in the art world, and I don’t often care for it, but your videos are really great to watch. A nice niche corner contrary to the vast and fast content YT world.

A remarkable video. The narrator presented the entire story in such a fascinating way that is never boring or repetitive but straight forward brief and absolutely inviting .. More videos please of the same kind. Thank you.
