"If the only thing keeping a person decent is the expectation of divine reward, than brother, that person is a piece of shit, and I'd like to get as many of them out in the open as possible."
And to think they wanted Mathew Mcconaughey to play the role of Marty originally, glad he chose Rust role. He did an amazing job, best role I've ever seen an actor play.
I love how he quoted LeDoux when he said, "Someone once told me time is a flat circle." It just shows that, in a way, he still carries the evil in his life with him as well as the good, never forgetting either.
"The tragedy of a species becoming unfit for life by over-evolving one ability is not confined to humankind. Thus it is thought, for instance, that certain deer in paleontological times succumbed as they acquired overly-heavy horns. The mutations must be considered blind, they work, are thrown forth, without any contact of interest with their environment. In depressive states, the mind may be seen in the image of such an antler, in all its fantastic splendour pinning its bearer to the ground." - Peter Wessel Zapffe
I find myself understanding Rust Cohle the more I listen to him. Matthew McConaughey killed it in season one and he's an example of perfect casting, I can't see anyone but McConaughey playing Cohle
