Bless the man for not taking the price he was offered for the old companion, he knew the horse deserved better than that.

This is  how  we  grew up and  learned about horses

This is an exquisite piece of documentary, capturing an era in Irish history that now disappeared. The fact none of the characters speak adds to the purity and sincerity of the message

Kids today don't know they're born,my life when i was that age,so amazing.

Actually a very good mare, both in character and conformation. You can see how they bred the modern Irish sport horses from stock like this.

I was in tears at the end...

Who is the idiot who thumbed down on this??🤷🤦
Anyways...this looks like it was decades ago, but l'll bet there are still many now who value a simpler life.

My mother's family were from Tipperary originally.  This is VERY different from how things look over here.

The kids do hard chores but they don't grumble & they don't look hard done to. Ask a North American kid to chore, you could be up for all kinds of threats!

Animals are not well treated at live markets here. Yet with all those cows loose & one very stubborn little donkey, there were no electric prods or whips, all the men were gentle & patient. Wouldn't see that here either.
That beautiful white horse worked really hard, but was cared for, new shoes, looked well fed, lots of horse friends, treated with kindness- as should be but often is not over here.

I blame my Irish roots for my love for all Animals.
Lovely tale, good little boys, and lots of my very favourite animal, the majestic Horse.
Peaceful video with lots of Irish beauty!!! Thanks for sharing!👍🐾🌈🇨🇦☘️⚜️

Lovely film and story

Wonderful, year? Dublin v Kerry. It would be interesting to know what happened to the boys.
I was fortunate to have lived the rural experience in Down in the 60's/70's. I knew then aged 6/7 that i was living a magical dream that one day would come to an end.

Omg! I’m weeping, this is so good.

Just.wonderfull❤

what was the name of the program? i'd love to see the rest of it,thanks for sharing part of it.
