I don't think LEGO intention was to make an actual steam engine, but rather a toylike design as compare to their other releases. I'm glad you've made it more like a real locomotive, similar to the Orient Express set.

Maybe if LEGO cared about making more steam loco related sets again, they could co-exist with their other vehicle lines.

I like the modifications to your locomotive and passenger car (wagon for you?). I think you have a great start on the tender. I would recommend removing the rear most 1x4 brown panel from both sides, moving the brown corners and back 1x4 panel forward, and moving the dark green inverted arch down under the brown. The brown is there to represent the wooden extension boards that were added after the tinder was built to extend the fuel capacity. It does not make sense to have painted “metal” parts sitting on top of “wood” parts and since you have chosen to represent the water fill hatch (good choice!), it makes sense that you’d want to keep the fuel off the fill hatch.

When you were showing the tender, my first thought was to rotate the panels so there is some texture on the side of the unit... then you mentioned the stickers and that made sense! Good work all round.

This is a really good set of improvements to a design that had been too aggressively cost reduced. If I have a criticism, it would be that I find the background music intrusive and unnecessary, only making your detailed descriptions (which are good) harder to listen to. Thanks.

Lego should do themself a big favour and sell a set of just the coach with a couple of different minifigs

Imagine if they brought back My Own Train but in a more modern way. But it has a lot more of extra pieces so you can make each locomotive look a little different so it doesn’t look like the same 4 engines but a different color.
