Mr. Schachter has been grabbing my attention throughout this whole trial. The camera seems to land on him frequently in the gallery. His face is always fixed in an expression of permanent anguish. He shakes his head at hearing the details, he shuts his eyes, he puts his head down. This is a completely destroyed human being. I am absolutely heartbroken for these families.

This poor father has a permanent frown on his face.  When I've seen him sat in the trial he has the exact same expression.

“My forever 14 year old boy” is such an incredibly moving statement!
Mr Schachter, you truly are a special human being. This is so incredibly tragic!

In every video I have watched on this sentencing trial, this man has always drawn my attention. His sad face, his dead and tired eyes. He is unbearably heartbroken, and my heart breaks for him and all of the families. Ugh, sending so much love to these people.

I think hes officially the saddest man on the planet. At first I thought it was just the way he looked. But no its just the worst sadness and loss captured in his facial expression.  Brutal.

“Life is like roller coaster” truely shows the maturity Alex had. Such an eloquent poem especially from a 14 year old.. this kid would have had a bright future

I have seen him in the background of a few videos. He always grabbed my attention because he listens and shakes his head while always having a frown on his face. I was 14 when this happened so today I’m learning his son passed away that day. Nothing I ever say can help the families so I will leave it at that.

This man’s depth of pure love for his lost son is so moving. He was lucky to have you, for his short life, Max. He really was ❤️

I have never seen a frown so heavy on someone’s face. Such an unbearable and tragic loss.

If he gets life in prison without parole, I think that all of these victim statements should be played in a constantly cycling until there is no more life left in him.

I know that I am not the only one that wants to reach into my phone and embrace both of these amazingly strong humans.

“My forever 14 years old son” hit me like a truck 🚶🏽‍♂️

I agree with those who say they've been drawn to Max Schachter throughout the trial. Always present, always wearing his emotions on his face, you can see he also wears his heart on his sleeves. This statement made me tear up here at work. What a gut wrenching set of things to go through, that day and again at the trial in front of the world.

What an unbearable loss. Such a beautiful and loving family… and then suddenly you have to move on without your special, talented and sociable son Alex. I wish you a lot of strength 🙏🏻 Kind regards, Gon from the Netherlands 🇳🇱

I feel this. My mom always told me, “when you have kids you’ll understand.” Never really thought anything of it. I have a little boy who just turned three and she’s right, the worry is there, it eats at me. To have someone take my child from me would be something I couldn’t deal with. Max and to all the parents, loved ones who lost someone, my whole heart and soul goes out to you.

what a beautiful poem written by Alex. i can tell he was a ray of light type of person from the photo they showed of him. RIP Alex 🫶🏻

caryn’s beautiful speech brought tears to my eyes. she may not have been his biological mother, but the maternal love she had for him is unfathomable.

I have watched this father throughout this trial and his reactions to each and every testimony has been true and raw emotions of disbelief what this monster did to not only his son but to all that are suffering.

That stupid blank stare on Nikolas face when hes listening to the anger and anguish in the voices of the families that lost there love ones to what he did that day is sickening .

This precious dad breaks my heart. He is such an emotional, yet strong man, standing up for his baby. 🥺❤️🙏💪
