I know of someone that bought a used Charter Arms 357 mag.   Something was wrong with it, so he sent it back to them.  They couldn’t fix it for some reason (it was a much older model and parts were not on hand).    In order to make things right, they gave him a new revolver.. he picked a 41 Mag.   How awesome is that?

I bought a Ruger Super Wrangler earlier this year. On the first shooting session the hammer seized and couldn’t be cocked. I sent it back to Ruger and they repaired it by replacing the  hammer assembly. I took it to the range and it seized again on the first outing. I sent it back again and asked could I get a new gun, which they did and it has been fine since. However when I was discussing my options with Ruger I mentioned upgrading to a Single Six, and they checked with the factory in New Hampshire and they had one with a 5 1/2” barrel, but upon inspection IT wasn’t satisfactory to ship out. I had decided I wanted a nice single action 22 so I found a Colt New Frontier 22 with 2 cylinders made in 1971 in pristine condition. The Colts fit and finish is absolutely perfect and I have now fired hundreds of rounds through it and it is perfect with a light trigger with no creep. It’s a shame that the quality of revolvers has slipped.

I am a Man Stuck in the 20th Century Dick! Every Revolver I made a point of collecting is Older than 1979. My first handgun I purchased in 1980 a Beautiful hardly fired 1973 6" Colt Python. I managed a few Colts and a Few choice S&W's,  a 19-3, 27-2 and a 29-2 All 6" Target. I wanted a fine example of Everything I admired growing up! Thanks Dick, The Old Ones I have are All in Fine Working Order!

I got a S&W 657 no dash 4" in an interesting exchange one Christmas in the late 1900's.  I was dropping our daughter off with my ex for the holiday. I liked her husband, her third, I was #2, as he was a genuine nice guy. We got to talking guns and he showed me the  Smith. I thought it was pretty nice,  told him so, and didn't think any more about it. So I went out and bought him 100 rounds for Christmas but when we opened gifts I was the new proud owner of a .41 Mag. and he had the ammo. Which I paid him for. It seems he had a little shake in his hands and wasn't much good with a handgun. Like I  said, he's a genuinely nice guy.

A little pit in the barrel is not necessarily a deal killer.  I have a 1961 Colt Official Police .38 that I primarily carried for 18 years until I got my current new Model 19-9 Classic S&W.  Great barrel but after a cleaning, I noticed this little smudge down the barrel.  Could not get rid of it.  Finally realized it was a little pitting that had formed at some point.  Bugged me, but the gun still shoots great.  Discovered my mom's M10 snub nose has a similar point inside it's barrel.  Still shoots great.   All of my double action revolvers, except the above said M19-9 are used revolvers.   Learned a lot about them and glad I got them when I did.   Oh, and my M19-9 came with a rear sight that looked slightly lopsided with maybe ding.   Blew it off as imagination until I tried to adjust the sights and the screw needed a lot of force to get turning and/or the blade wiggled a lot with my fingers.   S&W sent me a new rear sight and I installed it a few months ago.

Knowledge like this is invaluable for a lot of us. I appreciate you taking the time to record and upload this.

I just picked up two S&W 64-3's, made in 1979 and they served in the Glendale, AZ PD, I got them from the Officer and his wife that used them on Duty.

Because I’ve got my kids raised and through college, they are no longer on my payroll, so I have a bit more discretionary income. 2 years ago, after much searching, I acquired a pristine 76 Bicentennial model stainless steel Ruger Security Six 4 inch 357 mag. I probably slightly overpaid, but I don’t care, I’m in my 50s and that’s what I wanted. I have packed it around in Hinsdale Co, Colorado, fly fishing for those 2 years, and love it. The Security Six is beyond proven, hence why it was more desirable to me than a new production revolver. Plus a little nostalgia 😂

Excellent advice on inspection detail

I bought a bunch of S&W Model 10 and 14 and K-22 for $175 - $200 a long time ago.  Mostly used police guns, carried a lot, shot very little. This was when agencies were dumping revolvers in favor of semi-autos. Nobody wanted them back then. Looks like times and quality have changed.
